En mai 1980, la Corée du Sud fait face à une période particulièrement agitée avec le soulèvement de Gwangju. Deux jeunes adultes, Hee Tae et Myung Hee, se rencontrent et semblent liés par le destin. Hee Tae est un garçon surdoué qui a obtenu les meilleures notes de son école et est actuellement à l'université nationale de Séoul. Il déteste les préjugés. Myeong Hee travaille en tant qu'infirmière depuis 3 ans. Elle vit à Gwangju et est très sociable.

One day in 2021, workers discover an unidentified skeleton at a construction site in Gwangju. And 41 years ago, spring was in full bloom in Seoul in 1980. Pro-democracy sentiments run high throughout college campuses, but Hee Tae has no interest in such matters. He is focused on finding enough money to take a patient back home. He returns to his hometown of Gwangju.
