Épisode 1 - Knock Knock

25 novembre 1940

Knock Knock est un cartoon de 1940 produit par Walter Lantz, faisant partie de la série des Andy Panda. Woody Woodpecker, le pivert fou, y fait sa première apparition. Woody Woodpecker harcèle deux pandas, Andy Panda et son père, Papa Panda, juste pour le plaisir.

Épisode 1 - Woody Woodpecker

7 juillet 1941

Woody Woodpecker passe sa journée à chanter fort et à picorer des trous dans les arbres. Il exaspère les autres créatures des bois - quand il ne les déconcerte pas avec son comportement bizarre. Woody entend un écureuil et un groupe d’oiseaux bavarder à son sujet. Même s’il vient de chanter une chanson proclamant sa folie, il nie leurs accusations chuchotées selon lesquelles il est fou. Mais après qu’ils l’aient piégé en lui frappant la tête sur une statue, le pauvre oiseau entend des voix dans sa tête et décide que les animaux pourraient avoir raison. Il décide de consulter un médecin. Mais laissez Woody choisir le Dr Horace N. Buggy, un renard écossais, qui est, si c’est impossible, encore plus fou que lui.

Épisode 2 - Woody's Jalopy

11 août 1941

Woody Woodpecker traverse la campagne et n’est, disons-le, pas un adepte des règles. Il demande pratiquement des ennuis quand il confronte un policier de la circulation qui explique qu’il cherche des excès de vitesse. Woody se révèle être un speeder en conduisant en Alaska et retour en moins d’une minute. Le policier tente de l’arrêter, mais Woody déclare : « Je parie que tu ne serais pas si dur sans cet uniforme. » L’officier se déshabille mais Woody l’attaque avec une caméra de gant de boxe. Woody obtient également sa chèvre en s’habillant en fermier à cheval et en buggy et en Chinaboy avec pousse-pousse. Finalement, le flic se retourne et est envoyé dans un hôpital psychiatrique avec Woody comme gardien. La version télévisée du dessin animé a été rebaptisée Woody’s Jalopy.

Épisode 3 - Pantry Panic

24 novembre 1941

Les amis de Woody l’avertissent que la marmotte a prédit une tempête de neige. Indifférent, Woody décide de ne pas aller dans le Sud avec ses copains. Bientôt, le blizzard balaye et détruit la réserve de nourriture du pic. Face à la famine, une lueur d’espoir arrive sous la forme d’un chat. Le chat est également affamé et il se transforme en un match de muscles et d’esprit pour voir qui mange qui.

Le taureau regarde à travers un nœud alors que le grand torero, Woody Woodpecker, se montre aux spectateurs. Incapable de le supporter plus, le taureau se précipite dans l’arène et charge Woody si fort qu’il fait une pagaille du stade. Woody, comme toujours, à la hauteur de la tâche à accomplir, sert bientôt des hamburgers à la foule.

Épisode 2 - Ace in the Hole

22 juin 1942

Woody Woodpecker est un garçon d’écurie. Les écuries sont situées dans un aérodrome, et le bruit des avions qui tournent autour ne fait qu’alimenter son désir de voler. « Je veux voler comme les oiseaux ! » déclare le pic. Mais la seule chose pour laquelle le sergent bulldog sur l’aérodrome pense que Woody est compétent est de couper les chevaux avec une tondeuse électrique. Et considérant que Woody permet accidentellement à la tondeuse de couper les boutons de la chemise du sarge et une longue bande de cheveux de son menton, il donne peut-être trop de crédit à Woody. Néanmoins, Woody passe son temps à lire « How to Fly a Plane from the Ground Up ». Et finalement, il se faufile sur un PU-2.

Épisode 3 - The Loan Stranger

19 octobre 1942

Woody conduit joyeusement (et noisement) dans la rue lorsque sa voiture tombe en panne. Il essaie d’obtenir un prêt d’un loup voisin. Le loup accepte de donner le prêt à Woody mais s’exclame que s’il ne reçoit pas le paiement dans trente jours, il emportera la voiture de Woody. Effectivement, une carte de titre nous dit: « Trente jours se sont écoulés (et la mémoire de Woody aussi) ». Le loup apparaît à la porte de Woody en essayant de lui servir un avis, mais le pic rusé prétend qu’il n’est pas à la maison. Le loup tente de le piéger déguisé en livreur donnant un gâteau à Woody... mais le pic le lui jette au visage en hurlant : « Je n’aime pas le gâteau au fromage ! » Finalement, le renard donne un coup de poing à Woody et croit l’avoir grièvement blessé. Il accepte avec sympathie d’oublier le prêt seulement pour être furieux quand Woody « récupère » en tenant une horloge à coucou et en demandant: « Que diriez-vous d’un prêt sur l’horloge, Doc? »

Woody a faim mais tous les restaurants sont fermés ; Et quand il voit un endroit qui empait des oiseaux, il y va - seulement pour apprendre qu’il est allé chez un taxidermiste.

Épisode 3 - The Dippy Diplomat

27 août 1945

Un journal annonce qu’Ivan Awfulitch, le célèbre ambassadeur, doit faire un barbecue avec Wally Walrus, un résident local. Malheureusement, pendant que Wally prépare le barbecue, l’odeur des steaks qu’il cuisine attire un invité indésirable sous la forme de Woody Woodpecker. Il vole une partie de la nourriture à travers un trou de nœud dans la clôture, puis utilise un arc et des flèches pour obtenir le reste. Wally le jette dehors, mais quand Woody entend parler du visiteur qu’il attend, il s’habille lui-même en Awfulitch et obtient finalement le reste de la nourriture de Wally.

Épisode 4 - The Loose Nut

7 décembre 1945

Woody Woodpecker se rend au parc pour une partie de golf et se met rapidement en désaccord avec des travailleurs municipaux qui posent une promenade en ciment. Ses crochets et ses tranches continuent d’atterrir dans le ciment humide. Mais il lisse tout en mettant quelques truelles de ciment sur ses pieds et en glissant sur la surface comme si c’était de la glace.

Woody est paresseux et fait la sieste pendant que les fourmis et les sauterelles ramassent de la nourriture pour l’hiver. Il se réveille, sous un manteau de neige, pour constater que l’hiver et un loup affamé frappent à sa porte. Le loup a l’intention de manger Woody... mais Woody a aussi les mêmes pensées concernant le loup.

Woody est locataire d’une pension de famille dirigée par Wally Walrus, mais sa partie de golf à l’intérieur énerve rapidement le propriétaire. Woody décide de prendre un bain, pour lequel il doit déposer un centime dans le compteur d’eau de sa salle de bain. Lorsque la pièce glisse de ses doigts et roule dans les égouts, il essaie un assortiment d’astuces inhabituelles pour la récupérer.

En conduisant sur une autoroute américaine, Woody passe devant un panneau d’affichage qui lui rappelle qu’il doit renouveler son permis de conduire. Il se rend au département des véhicules automobiles et demande à l’agent Wally Walrus de lui faire passer le test.

Woody et son cheval se heurtent à de nombreux obstacles, dont un « crapaud à cornes ». Desperado Buzz attend Woody alors qu’il traverse la rivière. Buzz prévoit de bombarder Woody avec un gros rocher d’en haut...

Un Woody fatigué reste dans la maison de chambres de Wally Walrus pour la nuit, et le ronflement incessant du pic finit par garder Wally éveillé alors qu’il essayait en vain de se débarrasser de lui.

Épisode 3 - Wicket Wacky

Woody Woodpecker a une façon de faire bouger les choses même quand tout est calme et paisible, comme c’est le cas lorsqu’il joue au croquet solitaire. Calme, c’est-à-dire jusqu’à ce qu’il frappe le pieu de but et le renverse. Lorsque Woody enfonce le pieu dans le sol, il l’envoie à travers le toit du salon d’un gopher et se retrouve dans un conflit territorial.

Épisode 4 - Slingshot 6 7/8

Un concours de tir (avec un prix de 1 000 $) dans une ville frontalière de l’Ouest se réduit à deux finalistes aux yeux perçants: Indian Buzz Buzzard et son arc et ses flèches, et Woody Woodpecker. Entre les mains de Woody, « Slingshot 6 7/8 » est une arme avec laquelle il faut compter.

L’histoire s’ouvre sur divers couples qui entrent dans une grange pour assister à une danse de grange. Tous se balancent au rythme de la musique. Wally Walrus est le portier qui récupère les billets à leur entrée. L’entrée à la danse est de 1 $, ce qui donne droit à chaque acheteur à un billet pour « Free Eats ». Woody Woodpecker est dans une botte de foin en train de regarder les danseurs passer. Il voit par sa montre que c’est l’heure du dîner, et il se rend compte qu’il a faim. Son regard tombe sur le panneau « Free Eats », alors il suit la foule dans la grange. Il tend un billet d’un dollar en caoutchouc à Wally, qui le découvre après que Woody soit entré dans la grange. Woody est affamé près d’une table chargée de nourriture, et juste au moment où il est sur le point de vraiment se régaler, Wally l’éjecte de la grange.

Épisode 7 - Destination Meatball

Woody Woodpecker veut de la nourriture du supermarché de Buzz Buzzard. Après avoir essayé de payer sa nourriture avec un tampon en caoutchouc d’un billet de cent dollars, Woody est assommé et une bouteille d’encre invisible est renversée sur lui.
