What initially appears to be a harmless routine assignment then turns out to be quite a murderous affair, because shortly after Wilsberg has delivered the delicate photos, the body of a young woman is fished out of Lake Aa - the lady whom he had shadowed shortly before .

The private investigator and antiquarian Georg Wilsberg from Münster receives an order from an insurance company to monitor a garage near the harbor. Losses of damage have been reported there suspiciously recently. Wilsberg should take a close look at the owner and find out whether he or she stages the damage itself. Wilsberg is rather displeased with the work, because a case of insurance fraud does not promise great wealth. But hardly concerned with the new case, Wilsberg stumbles across the body of an architect. This had designed the expansion of the creative quay at the port on behalf of a Münster real estate company. Before the police show up, however, the body is removed. Nobody believes Wilsberg, least of all Anna Springer, his "girlfriend" from the Münster homicide commission. No murder without a body!

When Georg Wilsberg drives to Havenbroich Castle to take a look at a library, he is amazed when he suddenly meets his outgoing student love Maria. On the way back, Wilsberg suddenly meets Commissioner Springer: the young biologist Lisa Berendonk was found murdered in the corn field that belongs to the Havenbroichs grounds. Since Wilsberg had met her shortly before, his curiosity was aroused immediately. He starts his own investigation and finds out that the corn on Havenbroich's field has been genetically manipulated - illegal field trials. Unexpectedly, Wilsberg is in the middle of an environmental scandal and finds several suspects. Perhaps Lars Jussen, the militant opponent of genetic engineering, is the perpetrator that Alex fell in love with? Maria's husband, Karl von Havenbroich, and Lisa's boss, laboratory manager Dr. Frank Buschfeld, would have had every reason to eliminate the attractive biologist.

The shoddy investigator is reluctant to come along. His relationship to art changes suddenly when Wilsberg looks at Sophie, because she is really gorgeous. The relationship between the two friends changes to the same extent because of small jealousies. It's just a shame that the very next day this young lady lies next to her own works of art with her skull smashed. What happened? Accident or murder?

Reluctantly, but under emotional pressure, the private investigator from Münster makes his way to Silke Buschfeld, the only witness to the accident. The fact that the journalist quickly gets caught up in contradictions makes Wilsberg sit up and take notice: what has she to keep secret? When he finds out that Silke's friend Hans Haffner was also at the scene of the accident, this question seems to be answered. But before the detective Silke Buschfeld can be questioned, she is found murdered in her apartment.

The case seems very simple this time for the unorthodox private investigator: A young woman, Susanne Diepenbrock, commissions Georg Wilsberg to find her missing sister Jessica. This had suddenly disappeared, she could not give a reason. With Wilsberg's best friend Manni, on the other hand, things are different: he has taken over the planning for Münster's project "Senior living" and is working hard on both ears. Several houses in Münster's tranquil district of St. Mauritz need to be renovated and converted, but these are still partially inhabited by older people. When there are several deaths shortly afterwards, the matter gets an unpleasant aftertaste and Manni falls into the line of fire. Did he want to drive older women out of their apartments so that the city could carry out their project unhindered?

The tax auditor finally wants to find out how this antiquarian and private investigator makes his money and how the tax office dupes. An elegant woman appears in the antiquarian bookshop. She is looking for a book about Celts. Wilsberg knows the book, but is so busy keeping the tax auditor Talkötter at bay that he only gives the customer his business card and notes their phone numbers. Things are not going better for Alex: she is kicked out of her new part-time job as a waitress. When she leaves the noble country hotel, an unknown woman hits and injures her. Alex thinks he saw a female body in the passenger seat.

The largest painting company in the city, the Schlacke company, undercuts almost every competitive price offer. This can only be possible through the use of undeclared workers. Wilsberg is supposed to prove that company boss Schlacke employs illegal workers. When he watches the Schlacke company renovating an old villa, Wilsberg only finds the body of a young woman instead of the undeclared worker. Cause of death: sudden heart failure. However, the post-mortem revealed that the woman committed suicide. Was the apparent suicide really a milieu murder? Did the woman fall victim to a jealousy or did she just know too much? Did she want to get out of the milieu and was killed to set an example for other potential dropouts? Because the brothel owner Asta Bergengrün dies of a violent death.

Wilsberg on the way home. Suddenly a young girl appears on her bike in the spotlight. Full braking, it crashes, but luckily nobody is seriously injured. While Wilsberg is treating Franziska's grazed knee, he hears her sad story: Franziska is looking for her child. Her parents urged her to adopt the newborn. Wilsberg promises to help. He will soon find out who the adoptive parents are: Mr. and Mrs. Weltenbrink, respected owners of a construction company. Shortly afterwards the baby Lisa is kidnapped, and Wilsberg has to find out that Franziska lied to him: The accident was staged to encourage Wilsberg to work free of charge. Police storm the apartment to arrest Wilsberg and Alex. For the Weltenbrink couple, it is clear that Wilsberg's appearance was only a diversion, and he is under the covers with the kidnappers. Wilsberg had an accident and has to undergo an operation. As a result, he is tied to the bedside, but his instinct for crime is by no means paralyzed. At night he watches through the window of his hospital room how a sister, a doctor, Siegbert Suhlke, is dealt with hard in the wing opposite. He raises the alarm, but no one believes him, neither the night nurse nor the chief doctor, who attributes Wilsberg's observation to the pain reliever and rejects it as a fantasy.

Meanwhile, Anna Springer has a blind date with her internet acquaintance Karsten. The two get on very well and end up in bed the same evening. When Anna finds out that Karsten is Richard Breiderhoff's brother and she angrily confronts him about it, Karsten takes Anna into his power and from then on keeps her trapped in a cellar. Karsten urges her to call Georg Wilsberg so that he can find something that proves Richard's innocence. Wilsberg immediately notices that Anna is in danger.

Sonja's mother and manager was desperately looking for her daughter. For some inexplicable reason, she had canceled an important PR appointment. Was the dramatic appearance at Wilsberg just pretending to skip this date? Before Wilsberg and Ekki are further drawn into the argument between mother and daughter, they leave the dust. However, they don't get far - because Sonja runs screaming out of her hotel room. No wonder, because there is a woman's body in the hotel bed, covered with blood-red roses.

Als Betriebsrat hat Mitarbeiter Tobias Nagel jedes Recht, für die Arbeitnehmerinteressen einzutreten. Doch damit ruft er Firmen-Anwalt Hartmut Niehoff auf den Plan, der für Fabian Barkland den unliebsamen Betriebsrat loswerden soll. Auch Ekkis Cousine, Steffi Geller, rückt in Niehoffs Schusslinie. Schließlich ist sie mit Tobias Nagel nicht nur beruflich, sondern auch privat liiert. Wilsberg stößt bei seinen Nachforschungen auf die Leiche von Kollege Bernd Freitag, der als Privatdetektiv für Niehoff gearbeitet hatte.

Wilsbergs Klientin Tahmina Ahmadi ist Teil einer Ladenbesitzergemeinschaft, zu der neben Musikalienhändler Jazek Antonov auch das Opfer gehörte, der Modellbauhändler Tillmann Drösser. Versucht Vermieter Überholz, sie loszuwerden, um die Läden teurer zu verkaufen? Die Spur führt Wilsberg nicht nur zu der undurchschaubaren Immobilienmaklerin Rebekka Heise, sondern auch weit zurück in die Vergangenheit der drei Ladenbesitzer*innen. Kann Niels Schiffer, die zuvorkommende Hilfskraft der Ladengemeinschaft, etwas zur Aufklärung des Falles beitragen? Ekki hat in der Zwischenzeit eine neue Bekanntschaft über eine Blind-Date-App gemacht. Euphorisiert fiebert er dem ersten persönlichen Treffen mit der Frau entgegen, die sich in der App nur "Kuschelkätzchen 17" nennt. Das Aufeinandertreffen verläuft allerdings ganz anders als erwartet. Overbeck jagt den Hintermännern einer illegalen Drogen-App hinterher. Dabei strapaziert er nicht nur die Ressourcen der Polizei, sondern auch die Nerven seiner über seinen unautorisierten Alleingang wenig amüsierten Chefin Anna Springer.
