The first television series produced by Eiji Tsyburaya, the special effects man behind "Godzilla." In the vein of "The Outer Limits" and "The Twilight Zone," except with giant rubber-suited monsters. The show revolves around three recurring characters and the situations they get into with said monsters. The show is the precursor to the "Ultraman" series.

Épisode 1 - Defeat Gomess!

Near Mt. Konpo, tunnel excavation work on the third-sector of the new Tokai Super-Expressway project unearths a huge cavern from which a large, strange stone is recovered. One worker claims to have seen a huge monster in the darkness, leading a young scholar to recall an ancient text kept in a local shrine. The legend tells of Gomess, a tusked, bipedal beast with fearsome claws, and a phoenix-like bird, Litra, which defends the order of nature against the other. When Yuriko and Jun become trapped in the caverns, they discover that this legend is not mythical when a rhythmic beating emanates from the strange stone, revealing Gomess.
Épisode 2 - Goro and Goro

In the Amagi mountains, zoologists investigate the appearance of a colossal monkey reported to be jovially swinging from ropeway cables near a hot springs resort. The trail leads to the Wild Monkey Research Institute, where a mute custodian, Goro, had befriended and fed a spider monkey from a store of Aoba Walnuts at the facility. Unbeknownst to Goro, they were preserved with Aoba Potion, and experimental hormone supplement, which causes thyroid imbalance and gigantism in high doses. Big "Goro" comes to the city to look for his missing friend--and a plan is put into motion.
Épisode 3 - A Present from Mars

While investigating an undersea volcanic eruption by air, Jun and Yuriko witness the splashdown of an unmanned Mars Exploration Probe. Recovered by the Space Development Agency, they find strange images taken with the probe's onboard camera, as well as two golden spheres left inside the capsule. They conclude that the capsule was returned by intelligent beings on Mars, and joke that the spheres are a "gift." After a thief breaks into their safe and steals the spheres, however, he accidentally unleashes Namegon, a monster from beyond Earth.
Épisode 4 - The Mammoth Flower

Enormous thorny tendrils break through streets of Tokyo's business district, while others break through subbasements to feed off of those caught in their grasp. The plant pushes up into the offices of the Mainichi Shimpo News and eventually through the roof, where its poisonous flower blooms. Professor Ichinotani hypothesizes this primordial plant, Juran, has revived due to manmade changes to the environment, but argues with Professor Genda; Ichinotani wants to destroy the Monster, while his colleague wants to study it.
Épisode 5 - Peguila has Come!

Jun travels by ship to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his old chum, Nomura, a member of a Japanese Antarctic Winter Party. Nomura's cryptic last message, "Peguila is here," beckoned Jun to Antarctica. Team Leader Amada and Jun eventually find the body of Nomura under a sheet of ice, guarded by his faithful dog, Saburo, who survived by eating native moss. The team discovers that the moss Saburo subsisted on is enriched with Peguimin H, a substance that is poisonous to Peguila. As the monster approaches their outpost, a rocket loaded with the Peguimin H is used to drive back the monster, though it flees to fight another day.
Épisode 6 - Grow! Turtle

This episode features Taro, a schoolboy known for his tall tales. His newest claim? That the special feeding regimen for his pet turtle will cause it to grow big enough for Taro to ride on and take him to a castle under the sea. After being removed from class he witnesses a bank robbery, but the school faculty doesn't believe him. Looking for his errant turtle he stumbles across the robbers, who kidnap him, until Taro's turtle grows enormous and scares them into surrendering to the police. Climbing bareback, Taro rides Gameron to the legendary castle under the sea, where Otohime, a princess, chides him for being a compulsive liar.
Épisode 7 - SOS Mt. Fuji

Mt. Fuji threatens to erupt after hundreds of years of dormancy. Ippei accompanies Yuriko on an assignment to investigate the danger, but is stymied when the local constable fails to get citizens to take the danger seriously. Increased volcanic activity causes a huge boulder to be expelled from the bottom of Lake Yoshino, but the stone proves to be not a mere rock, but a living monster, Gorgos.
Épisode 8 - The Terror of Sweet Honey

Scientists have begun to conduct research involving the enlargement of bees used to produce "Honey Jellion," a super Royal Jelly, one million times more potent than normal. If consumed in concentrated form, this nutritional agent poses a serious side effect: gigantism. A researcher at the station returns one day to find that someone has broken into his greenhouse and destroyed this larvae. The perpetrator -- a jealous rival -- takes the remnants of the insects and allows his mole to feed on them. Turning gigantic, this beast "Mongula" threatens to wreak havoc on the surrounding area.
Épisode 9 - The Spider Baron

Jun, Ippei, Yuriko and their friends become lost in a thick fog driving back from a party near the coast. In need of shelter for the night, they stumble across an abandoned mansion, standing in the middle of the swamplands. This reminds Jun of an old story concerning a Baron, obsessed with spiders, who went mad when his betrothed daughter went missing in the swamp after being bitten by a poisonous tarantula. According to legend, she and her father were transformed into giant arachnids. Legend? The truth, as the group learns, when a pair of massive spiders attack them.
Épisode 10 - Underground Super-Express To The West

Set to cover the inaugural run of the advanced Tokyo-Osaka-Nagaski Super Express train, Yuriko smuggles Ippei along as her photographer. Unfortunately, instead of camera equipment, Ippei grabs the wrong case from the office. Inside is a special compression unit containing an artificial like form ("M1") that was to be transported to an Osaka lab. The case is placed in a special safe in the engine car, but a news photographer's flash causes the sentient creature to expand, accidentally damaging the train's control systems.
Épisode 11 - Balloonga

Disaster strikes the first manned spacecraft to survey Saturn when the capsule crashes off the coast of Japan. When Jun and Yuriko go flying in the area over the crash, they run low on fuel and must return to the airfield where they discover a strange, floating blob. They drive it to authorities, but the creature begins to expand at an alarming rate, destroying the car and injuring Ippei. Hovering over Tokyo, it absorbs all energy around it or thrown against it, even the full force of a typhoon. At the suggestion of Professor Naramuru, the UN launches a satellite into orbit, igniting as an artificial sun, to lure Balloonga into space.
Épisode 12 - I Saw a Bird

The police investigate an empty zoo, wherein every cage has been ripped open from the inside. There, they discover the nightshift zookeeper, clutching feathers in his hand, utters with his last breath, "I saw a bird!" Meanwhile, Jun, Yuriko, and Ippei investigate the appearance of a strange, medieval sailing ship. Finding the ship's log, they encounter a small, finch-like bird. Suddenly, the ship begins to fall apart and sink into the bay, and the bird gravitates to Saburo, a young orphan boy. As Saburo sleeps, the bird he names "Kuro," flies out at night to feed....With Yuriko's help, Professor Ichinotani identifies the creature as Largueus, a giant bird thought extinct before the Third Ice Age.
Épisode 13 - Garadama

A school boy, Mamoru, witnesses and retrieves a small, lightweight meteorite, which coincides with another falling into the Libyan Desert. When they begin to emit signals into space, Professor Ichinotani decides to investigate the object that fell in Japan, which the locals have nicknamed "Garadama". While searching the area, yet another giant meteorite crashes into the dam reservoir, sending boats scattering while the tremendous heat evaporates the entire lake. Not long afterwards, a strange monster breaks out of the meteorite, as Jun and Ippei set out to rescue two girls trapped in a boat stranded high on a precipice.

On a beautiful summer day, a plane landing at Haneda Airport suddenly freezes in the air and drops to the tarmac. As emergency vehicles respond, the airport begins to freeze over. After a nuclear reactor explodes near the South Pole, Jun postulates that Peguila may be migrating to the North Pole. Suddenly, the monster lands in the middle of the city and begins to turn the metropolis into a frozen wasteland.
