Gong Joon Soo (young) goes to pick up his father, who gets released from jail. There he meets a woman, who his father introduces as Joon Soo's new mother, Jin Sun Hye. He is then introduced to his stepsister, Kim Jin Joo, and stepbrother, Kim Hyeon Seok, who shows their dislike to the 2 new family members. Joon Soo and hisfather let themselves being called as 'Oi' and 'Hey'. Joon Soo went back to school. Though he is 13 years old, he is a 4th grader and is placed in the same class as Jin Joo. Their brother-sister relationship is soon known by the school, so Joon Soo begs to change classrooms. The different surnames whithin the family brings discomfort for Jin Joo and Hyeon Seok.

Jin Sun Hye and Joon Soo's father, Gong Sang Man, are remembering how they started their relationship. Sang Man, who was a prisoner got ill and was taken to the hospital, where Sun Hye works as a nurse. It wasn't their first meeting, they knew each other from the past. Jin Joo and Hyeon Seok demands to change school to have a fresh start. Sang Man's new fish cake stand gets ruined by gangsters, so he changes to a coffee stand at the market. Joon Soo tries his best to not displease Jin Joo and Hyeon Seok. He does the house chores such as washing, cleaning and cooking. He doesn't demand to be treated as older brother and allows them to think of him as a houskeeper to make them more comfortable. He just hopes not to be hated by them. One night Hyeon Seok is cornered by a view boys Joon Soo comes and protects him. It made Hyeon Seok calling him 'Hyung' (elder brother) for the first time. But this nice relationship doesn't held long.

Drunk Gong Sang Man made Hyeon Seok uncomfortable and run away. Sang Man's letter of apology to Hyeon Seok made him more disliked. Joon Soo gets angry at his father's behaviour and yells at him. Jin Joo who passed by the market with her friends gets embarrassed because of her stepfather's job. Sun Hye announces that she is pregnant. While Joon Soo thinks of it as a miracle. Jin Joo is very unhappy about it and sways Hyeon Seok to also think bad about it. To make a beautiful environment she asked the whole family to plant flowers in the garden. For a moment the family were happy, but Sun Hye is then taken to the hospital. Joon Soo is blamed by Jin Joo because of this. Though it is dangerous to have the baby, Sun Hye still wants to keep it. She has a hard time causing her to rest from work. To help the family Joon Soo works delivering milk at the morning. Jin Joo is forced to quit he ballet lessons for a while,making her very sad. Sang Man is tempted to commit fraud again.

Though it is very difficult Sun Hye gives birth to a baby girl. They named her Na Ri. The happiness doesn't stay for long. Police come to catch Sang Man for fraud. During his attempt to run away he gets into an accident and dies. Because of his fraud the rest of the family is forced to move from their house to a small rooftop place. This brings back Jin Joo and Hyeon Seok's anger at Joon Soo and his father. Sun Hye is working hard at the market while taking care of baby Na Ri until she breaks down because of her weak heart. Seing his stepmother's hardship Joon Soo decides to leace the family and goes to Choo Man Dol, his father's friend with whom he stayed when his father was in jail.

Sun Hye is able to track down Joon Soo's location because of the money he sends. She goes to bring him back. They slept on the bus on the way home, but Sun Hye never wakes up again. Again Joon Soo is blamed for the death of their mother. He swears to take charge and raise his younger brother and sisters. He does all kind of jobs while taking care of Na Ri. Delivering newspapers, selling milk, cleaning public bath, selling lemon juice. Jin Joo sways Hyeon Seok not to be nice and not to feel sorry towards Joon Soo beaceuse it is all his fault to begin with. Like this 6 years passed by. Still being called 'Oi' he works at construction sites and at a karaoke hall during the night together with Yoo Jeong Yeon, the owner's daughter. During the World Cup he sells drinks outside the stadium where Na Ri went missing.

On Joon Soo's 20th birthday Jeong Yeon, who is 5 years older confessed her feelings to him. Hw actually likes how she reminds him of his stepmother. Joon Soo is all awkward with his first love relationship. Somehow it leads to him asking Jeong Yeon to marry him in 10 years after he marries of Jin Joo and Hyeon Seok. Hyeon Seok always ranks first at the whole school. On second place is Lee Kyun Tae, the son of a congressman. Out of jealousy he always accuses Hyeon Seok of cheating and harasses him because of his stepfather who was a con man. Not seldom does this lead to fist fights. When Joon Soo is having a surprise party for Hyeon Seok at the karaoke hall Kyun Tae came uninvited and causes problem again.

On a rainy day, Hyeon Seok and Kyun Tae have a fight outside the karaoke hall. Without knowing having caused Kyun Tae's death, Hyeon Seok leaves. Joon Soo who went looking for them realizes this and decides to take the blame without knowing that Na Ri was looking. Joon Soo is sentenced 12 years jail for murder. During a visit Hyeon Seok unconsciously calls Joon Soo 'Hyung' for the second time. 10 years passed by. Na Ri is a high schooler wanting to be a celebrity. Jin Joo is working as a hairdresser and Hyeon Seok has become a prosecutor and is handling a case of a death during a commercial shooting for BY company because of the lack of security. Because of nice behaviour, Joon Soo is released earlier. He looks for his family but is chased away. Na Ri runs after him and says she can not have him as brother and is sorry for it. She gives him money to eat.

Everyone is having a hard time with Joon Soo's sudden visit. The brother and sisters living in the same house aren't always getting well with each other. Jin Joo is angry at Na Ri because she always is at the bottom ranking in school and at Hyeon Seok for always not talking much to her about his situation. Joon Soo spends his first night out of jail on a bench at a park. Jeon Yeon is married to his father's friend and has become the daughter-in-law of BY's chairman and stepmother of Na Do Hee, though Do Hee doesn't accept her. Do Hee is busy working for BY group and working at the small clothing shop she owns at Dong Dae Mun. Though being part of BY she wants the truth regarding the death accident case. When going home late night she is greeted by her stepmother but it always makes her throw tantrum. Na Ri skips classes to go to auditions, because of this Jin Joo is called by her teacher. This of course makes Jin Joo angry.

Joon Soo tries to use as less money as possible to save it for his brotherand sisters. He goes job hunting but is faced with difficulty because of his background. While looking for a job, he meets Choo Man Dol. After listening to Joon Soo's story he introduces him to working as courier at a clothing-shopping area. He secretly goes to look where Jin Joo works. Na Ri wants to go to an acting school and needs 1 million Won. Kang Cheol Soo, a senior of Hyeon Seok comes over to learn. He is going to take the exams. He makes himself comfortable with the family. Do Hee dislikes the lawyer of BY group, Lee Han Seo, who tries to get close to her. She fires the girl working at her shop because she always slacks off. Hyeon Seok finds more hints about the death accident case.

Do Hee throws a tantrum at her stepmother, who goes to her room and uses her birth mother's sewing machine without asking first. Man Dol introduces Joon Soo to working as courier at the clothing shopping area, Dong Dae Mun. Do Hee's shop is also located there. She accidently hit Joon Soo with her car. Because he doesn't want to delay work, he says that he's fine and not hurt. Hyeon Seok finds a possible witness, an employee of BY who was sick during the shooting and was sitting in the car. This of course troubles those from BY group. Kang Cheol Soo is pressured by his mother who always tries to keep her image as part of the high society though they have actually gone bankrupt. Joon Soo is amazed that Do Hee can speak different langueges. Man Dol says that her background is a mistery, some says she is part of a gangster family. Her nickname is Asura because she has 2 faces, she is like an angel to the customers but like a devil to her employees.

Hyeon Seok goes undercover to investigate a branded bag imitation case. For this he went to Dong Dae Mun. Trying to avoid Joon Soo, who is working there, he bumped into Do Hee. Somehow it turned into him being charged for sexual harassment. Later Do Hee finds out that Hyeon Seok is taking the case involving BY. Na Ri is still trying to get money and finds acompetition to select a model held BY with 1 million Won as award. The only probleme is that the participant must be a BY scholarship recipient. At home Do Hee doesn't like her stepmother's motherly behaviour, so she decides to let Secretary Kim to install a lock for her room . Hyeon Seok finds difficulty regarding the BY case because he is blocked by Lee Han Seo, the lawyer of BY, so he decides to go to Nepal using his own money.

Do Hee is troubled because the sizes of trousers a customer has order are all wrong and she is pressured by time. Joon Soo volunteer to adjust those trousers. As payment he asked to be given a chance to work as shopkeeper and learn from Do Hee. Hyeon Seok's sudden decision to leave for Nepal angers Jin Joo. Do Hee is moved by Joon Soo's earnest work on the trial day and decides to employ him. Because Joon Soo can't tell lies, he avoids questions about his past by choosing not to answer. Early morning Joon Soo went to clean the windows of the barber shop Jin Joo is working at. Without knowing who actually cleaned those, Jin Joo got praised by the owner because she's the one who opens the shop. Jin Joo tries to find out who did it.

Do Hee takes Joon Soo to the factory but because of motion sickness Joon Soo can't ride the car and decides to run beside it. Talking to Joon Soo made Do Hee realizes how weird he is and unconsciously laughs. Jin Joo finds out that Hyeon Seok went to Nepal at his own cost. Do Hee is angered because Hyeon Seok wasn't able to go to the police station to be questioned about the harassment case. Talking to Joon Soo somehow makes her laugh and even lies about her background to him, saying she has 7 siblings. Joon Soo, who thinks that's the reason she is strong and skillful admires her. Finding it interesting, she adds more and more dramatic stories about her family. Though she is not a scholarship recipient Na Ri decides too go to the BY competition anyway and persists to be allowed to participate.

Jin Joo keeps getting praised for cleaning the windows though she didn't do it. A misunderstanding leads to Joon Soo getting beaten by a customer's husband. Because he doesn't want his criminal past to be known, he decides to not charge. He also refuses to go to the hospital. While Do Hee aids Joon Soo's injury he feels like throwing up. He then realizes that it's because of nervousness being touched by a woman after 10 years. Hyeon Seok is back with the witness' testimony and a videotape. Na Ri won the BY competition, but to get the award money she needs to come with a guardian. Joon Soo visits his parents grave and meet Na Ri. Talking to him makes Na Ri realizes his kindness, so she decides to exchange phone numbers with him. For Joon Soo it's the third number on his phone.

Do Hee declares she is not interested in love because his father married the young Jeong Yeon even though not 1 year has passed since her mother's death. Jin Joo catches Joon Soo cleaning the barber shop's windows. It makes her throw a tantrum and tells him not to show up in front of them again. Lawyer Lee Han Seo is troubled hearing Hyeon Seok has found new evidence. Joon Soo is very down after the conversation with Jin Joo, but he get's comforted by Na Ri's random text message. Joon Soo's women phobia causes probleme at the shop. To help him out Man Dol tells Do Hee that he was a sailor and hasn't met a woman for a long time. Do Hee decides to treat Joon Soo's phobia. Jin Joo goes as Na Ri's guardian to the award ceremony but intends to refuse the model contract. Na In Sook, the daughter of BY'schairman, tries to bribe Hyeon Seok to protect her daughter, Shin Joo Yeong, who was partially responsible for the accident. She doesn't know that Secretary Kim is watching her.

The BY family is in chaos because of the bribing. The chairman orders Na In Sook to be locked up in the room at the rooftop without food as punishment and Shin Joo Yeong is suspended from work. Na Ri is angry because Jin Joo refuses to give her the award money. Jin Joo wants to save it for Na Ri's collage. Kang Cheo Soo keeps coming and staying over with studying as the reason. Joon Soo is worried because Do Hee told him that she has a problem at home. She then told him that her younger sibling caused trouble by bribing a police officer. Joon Soo of course believes this easily and tries to cheer her up. They have a running match, go drinking and rest on the bench at a park.

Do Hee gets home very late. Her stepmother greets her and offers to prepare soup for her. Do Hee unconscious thanked her, making her stepmother over joyed. BY's chairman decides tofollow the prosecution and accept the punishment. Lawyer Lee Han Seo is unhappy with this decision. Do Hee gives Joon Soo the chance to learn foreign languages and tells him to sign up for driving lessons. Na Ri decides to go on a hunger strike because Jin Joo doesn't give her the money. When Joon Soo hears this, he run off worriedly to feed her. He also asked her to let him pay for the acting school. When he comes back happily Do Hee is interested in knowing whether the tird number on his phone is his date. Na In Sook is released from the rooftop. Do Hee drops her charge against Hyeon Seok.

Hyeon Seok asks to be given the chance to thank Do Hee by treating her for meals 3 times to show his sincerity. Joon Soo goes to enroll Na Ri to an acting school. He also goes to Na Ri's highschool to get permission for NaRi to leave school 1 hour earlier to pursue acting. Na Ri decides to learn hard to not let Joon Soo down, surprising Jin Joo and Hyeon Seok. Joon Soo keeps pushing back to get driving lessons. Do Hee starts thinking he is scared of cars and tries to test him. She then realizes that sche needs to treat his woman sensitivity faster. Do Hee is getting more curious to know the relationship between Joon Soo and the third number girl. For the first time Do Hee speaks first to her stepmother. Na Ri has a nightmare about what she saw when she was young, but she can't really remember. Hyeon Seok invites Do Hee to their first dinner. She findes it depressing because Hyeon Seok doesn't talk much. With Joon Soo on the other hand, she laughs.

JoonSoo goes to NaRi's highschool to get permission for her to leave earlier each day to pursue acting. When they parted, Na Ri happily gives him a peace sign. Do Hee herself takes Joon Soo to sign up for driving lessons. While walking back , Joon Soo suddenly blocked the sunshine with his hand for Do Hee. Shin Joo Yeong goes to deliver a box from her grandfather to Prosecutor Hyeon Seok. When hearing she is from BY, he tries to refuse, but she forced it to him. Joo Yeong findes him handsom but inflexible. Hyeon Seok later meets the chairman of BY to return the box. Na In Sook, who happens to hear them, thinks that the chairman is trying to scout and wants to hand something over to Hyeon Seok. So she tells her daughter, Joo Yeong, to get close to him. Kang Cheol Soo is going to take the exams, so Jin Joo gave him a present as good luck charm. BY's chairman leaves for the US to visit a friend, who had an accident. Jin Joo finds out what Joon Soo did and throws a tantrum again.

DoHee sees JoonSoo walking by the roadside while crying and is curious to know why . Because he tries to act normal she doesn't want to ask directly. JinJoo is also hurt with how she treated JoonSoo. She goes drinking with Kang CheolSoo, who is also frustrated thinking he didn't pass the exams again. TSomehow they have a one night stand. JinJoo thinks of it as her punishment, leaving CheolSoo in confusion. DoHee tries to open JoonSoo up by telling her secrets. She doesn't like rain because when she lost someone precious it was raining. JoonSoo then tells her that he is afraid that he might destroy the life of a person he loves. JoonSoo tells NaRi to not contact him unless JinJoo allows her to. Shin JooYeong tries to get close to HyeonSeok. She waits for him outside the office and follows him, but he doesn't show any interest. JoonSoo doesn't know how to repay DoHee for trying to treat his phobia. It seems that in the US the BY chairman is treated well by Lawyer Lee HanSeo's father.

NaRi si scared because JinJoo doesn't yell at her like normally. Kang CheolSoo is depressed because he can't have a nice talk with JinJoo. He is also pressured by his mother about the exams. DoHee's fatehr is reluctant to take his wife toa school reunion party because she is so much younger, but she still wants to go. CheolSoo confesses his interest in JinJoo, but she doesn't want to accept it. Shin JooYeong learns that HyeonSeok is NaRi's brother. HyeonSeok treats DoHee to their second meal. DooHee doesn'tfinish her food because eating with HyeonSeok, who doesn't speak at all makes her loose her appetite. JooSoo takes DoHee to take a rain shower so she doesn't hate rain anymore. She learns that JoonSoo also has a bad memory related to rain.

After having a rain shower they eat together. They joked around and DoHee laughs. JoonSoo hopes to be able to make her laugh every day. JoonSoo doesn't have a bad reactionanymore when touched by women. DoHee accompanies JoonSoo to the driving exams. She wonders why she is acting that way when she is not his mother. Kang CheolSoo comes to talk too JinJoo but faces her stubbornness. NaRi begs HyeonSeok to come over to her photo shoot, where JooYeong tries to show her good side. NaRi tells JinJoo that it seems like JooYeong has a cruch on their father. JoonSoo draws a potrait of DoHee while she is taking a nap. DoHee decides to keep the drawing. She presents him with a sketch book. While trying to draw Do Hee, JoonSoo recieves a message which makes his tears flow.

Jin Joo tells Joon Soo to come over for a meal for Na Ri's birthday. Jin Joo says he is her birthday present for Na Ri. Hyeon Seok and Na Ri are surprised when he showed up. Joon Soo is overwhelmed and breaks down in tears. He is even asked to sleep over. Na Ri asked Jin Joo to be allowed to call Joon Soo 'Oppa' at least when it's only the two of them. Do Hee is angry and jealous thinking Joon Soo is with the third phone number girl. The next morning Jin Joo tells Joon Soo to come for a meal once a week. Hyeon Seok made a joke for the first time surprising everyone. Lee Han Seo tells Do Hee's father that he is interested in Do Hee. Do Hee is still in bad feeling. She ignores Joon Soo and doesn't eat much even though she has her 3rd meal with Hyeon Seok. He wants to be friends with Do Hee. Do Hee later learns that for the first time in 10 years JoonSoo slept at home with his siblings.

Kang Cheol Soo confesses to Jin Joo and wants to start over his relationship with her. Shin Joo Yeong starts coming over to the Gong Family's house with the excuse of tutoring Na Ri as the reason. She then lets Hyeon Seok know that she is the granddaughter of the chairman of BY. At the rooftop, Do Hee sleeps on Joon Soo's shoulder. But later Joon Soo can't wake her up, instead she falls onto his lap. That makes him worried as he remembers the death of his stepmother. He then takes her to the hospital. Joon Soo gets angry at her for refusing further examination and not taking care of herself until she fainted and making him worried. Do Hee is somehow happy seeing Joon Soo so worried about her. She promises to eat 3 times a day, not overworking herself and not making him worried again. So when she gets home she asked her stepmother to prepare some food for her for the first time. The next day Do Hee takes Joon Soo to practice driving around town

Do Hee and Jun Su make up after fighting. Do Hee makes it clear to Hyun Seok she does not want to date him, only wants to be friends. Hyun Seok is interrogated by Na Ri and Jin Joo once he returns home about standing up Joo Yeong. Hyun Seok and Jin Joo have an argument. Joo Yeong reports back to her mother about Do Hee and Hyun Seok. Do Hee asks her stepmother to clean her room. Afterward, they talk about their future as a family. Joo Yeong asks Do Hee how far she got with Hyun Seok. Na Ri's first ad is released to the public. Lawyer Lee continues to pursue Do Hee. Do Hee calls Junsu in front of Lawyer Lee and says she is dating Jun Su secretly.

Do Hee begins acting like she and Jun Su are dating by calling him 'sweetie'. After surprising Jun Su, Do Hee explains why she was acting weird and ask Jun Su to pretend to be her boyfriend if Lawyer Lee is around. Do Hee returns to the company and is confronted by Lawyer Lee about her secret boyfriend. Joo Yeong sees the two talking and reposts back to her mother. In a touching moment, Do Hee brings her father ointment for his hurt foot. Jun Su invites Na Ri to a traditional market on her way home from school. Jun Su goes home for dinner with his siblings. Yoo Jung visits Hyun Seok at his job. Cheol Su makes a surprise visit during dinner. Hyun Seok introduces Jun Su as his older brother. Man Dol ahjussi lies to Do Hee about why Jun Su has been away from his family for 10 years. Hyun Seok walks Jun Su to the bus stop after dinner. Do Hee as Junsu if he is still in pain after hearing about his story.

Do Hee finds out that Jun Su doesn't have a home and has been sleeping in the store. Do Hee's stepmom goes to the company to see Lawyer Lee. Jun Su tries to remember what happened last night. Do Hee meets her stepmom as she is leaving the company. Na Ri gets a casting call. Hyun Seok meets Joo Yeong for lunch. Do Hee confronts Jun Su about his first love. Hyun Seok and Joo Yeong take a walk after dinner.

Joo Yeong as Hyun Seok is she can cry in front of him again. After listening to her reason he agrees to let her cry in front of him 3 more times. Do Hee continues to treat Junsu on his supposed trauma of his first love. Joo Yeong returns home in a bad mood after parting with Hyun Seok. Do Hee continues to be upset about Jun Su and his first love when Hyun Seok text her to meet up. Na Ri becomes to invested in her audition role and tries to make herself sick. Do Hee takes the medicine her stepmother makes for her and ask her stepmother about the first time she saw her father as a man. Man Dol ahjussi expresses his concern for Do Hee to Jun Su about the possibilities of their relationship. Hyun Seok tries to cheer Na Ri up after her audition. Hyun Seok and Do Hee decide to meet up again. Do Hee's father as Lawyer Lee if he is seeing Do Hee. Na Ri makes a mistake while talking to Jun Su on the phone. Do Hee tell Hyun Seok she has been struck by lighting by someone else.

After having dinner with Hyun Seok, Do Hee calls Junsu to the rooftop and confesses to him. Joo Yeong asks Na Ri to install a tracker app on Hyun Seok's phone. Cheol Su finally past his prosecutor's test, and confesses to Jin Jo. Do Hee begins to try and court Jun Su when he tells her he need time to think. Do Hee and Jun Su talk on the phone all night. The next day Jun Su tells Do Hee he is going to become a bad person and confesses to her about his feelings.

The beginnings of Do Hee & Jun Su's relationship begin to flourish. Lawyer Lee makes an impression on Do Hee's family after dinner and we learn about his family background. Joo Yeong's mother pushes her to get to know Lawyer Lee and Hyun Seok at the same time. Na Ri prepares for her acting debut. Do Hee dresses up especially for Jun Su and they both go on their first official date. Na Ri installs the tracking app on Hyun Seok phone for Joo Yeong. We find out that Nari is afraid of blood. Jun Su remembers where he meet Do Hee before. Lawyer Lee ask Do Hee's grandfather and father for permission to pursue her and goes to share the good news with Do Hee. Do Hee's grandfather ask Na Ri for help about the latest trends. Man Dol asks Do Hee is she would be willing to marry Jun Su. The episode ends with Cheol Soo asking Jun Su for help.

Cheol Su asks Jun Su to help him with his relationship with Jin Joo. Do Hee asks Jun Su to accompany her to dinner. Jun Su begins to open up about his worries concerning his family. Jun Su says that he will end their relationship before a year, igniting Do Hee's anger. Do Hee's grandfather alerts his sons that he will begin to retire soon. Joo Yeong tracks down Hyun Seok to finding him sharing a drink with Do Hee. Joo Yeong confesses to Do Hee that she likes Hyun Seok. After figuring out her emotions Do Hee goes to find Jun Su. Do Hee tries to help Jun Soo find some new inspiration, when she receives info about the stolen products. Joo Yeong becomes more adamant in saying no to her mother. Jun Soo continues on his quest for a new design idea. The manga about the Gong family that Do Hee commissioned is released.

The design teams gather to share their new ideas. Jun Soo reveals his new idea and will distribute the information only to the design teams for security reasons. Do Hee apologizes to Jin Joo and she explains to Do Hee how much damage she has caused. Man Dol Ahjussi visits Hyeon Seok at work and Do Hee finds Na Ri to apologize. Teacher Kim sets up a get together where Man Dol Ahjussi brings Hyeon Seok along. Lawyer Lee starts preparations for his next assault against Jun Soo.

Cheol Soo's mom disappears after Jin Joo is admitted. Cheol Soo tells his mom they should move out. Jun Soo & Do Hee head over to the hospital to bring Jin Joo food, even though Joo Yeong beat them to the punch. Lawyer Lee begins making plans again. The lead detective on his case tells Jun Soo about Lawyer Lee coming to see him. Jun Soo tells Do Hee there might be a time in the future where he might not be able to ignore Lawyer Lee. Cheol Soo and his mother leave the Gong residence. Jin Joo and the baby recovery quickly. Cheol Soo mentions divorce to Jin Joo.
