The Hood tente de faire échouer les essais du nouvel avion militaire anglais, la Flèche Rouge, pour le compte d'une puissance étrangère. Après avoir fait s'écraser le premier prototype sur l'aéroport de Londres, il met en place une balise destinée à perturber les instruments de bord de l'avion sur une tour-relais. Celle-ci est frappée de plein fouet et menace de s'écrouler : les deux hommes coincés dans la tour font appel à la Sécurité Internationale.

Une fusée, en destination pour Mars, se dirige vers son pas de tir situé de l'autre côté du pont d'Arlington. Au moment du passage sur ce pont, celui-ci s'écroule et la fusée se retrouve sous l'eau tout en restant à la verticale dans sa position de décollage, mais sous des tonnes de gravats. Le compte à rebours pour le déclenchement des moteurs s'est mis en marche dans l'accident. Dans 12 heures, les hommes dans la fusée risquent de mourir.

Thomas Prescott, un employé de bureau de Londres, est sur le chemin du retour du travail lorsqu'il prend un homme en auto-stop. Au moment de le déposer, et afin de le "remercier", l'homme lui accroche de force un étrange bracelet autour du poignet. Le menaçant avec un revolver, il lui annonce que le bracelet contient une charge explosive qui doit exploser dans quelques minutes. La seule solution offerte à Prescott pour retirer le bracelet est de se rendre à son bureau, trouver une clé dans un tiroir bien précis et de laisser le bracelet explosif dans le tiroir.

In this behind the scenes documentary, we delve into the archives to uncover the secrets behind the sounds – along the way uncovering lost dialogue recordings and isolated effects unheard for over fifty years. Forgotten reel to reel audio tapes from AP Films in the 1960s represent a treasure-trove of newly rediscovered Gerry and Sylvia Anderson rarities. Some technical experimentation was required to reveal their contents – a process that involved careful playback of 60 year old quarter inch tapes on antique equipment. Along with archive interviews from director David Elliot and sound effects wizards John and Jean Taylor, the story of how unforgettable soundscapes were created for some of television's most beloved action-adventure series.
