En 1906, Theodosia Throckmorton, 14 ans, est la fille de deux égyptologues intrépides en pleine fouille dans la Vallée des Rois. Lorsque la fougueuse Theo et son petit frère Henry découvrent une tombe cachée et un mystérieux artefact, "l'Œil d'Horus", Theo libère son pouvoir magique, et c’est tout un nouveau monde aussi mystérieux que dangereux qui s’ouvre à eux. De retour à Londres, depuis la maison de ses parents située dans le célèbre Musée des légendes et des antiquités, Theo doit combattre les forces anciennes, la magie noire et le chaos. Theo, Henry et leurs amis Will, un magicien de rue, et Safiya, une princesse égyptienne, vont essayer de mener leurs vies d’adolescents et leurs études et parallèlement… de sauver le monde entier.
