A serial murder by fatal poisoning ushers in the first year of the new Japanese Reiwa era. Arrested as the prime suspect is a police officer. Under this new light, Kokoro begins to believe in his father’s innocence and vows to clear his name and restore happiness to the family. No sooner does Shin figure out that Mikio is the true killer than he suddenly finds himself back in 1989, just two days before the murders will take place. To prevent Shin from interfering with his plans, Mikio attempts to do away with Shin’s mother, Kazuko, who is still pregnant with the yet unborn Shin.

On the day of the mass killings, Shin and his father go to the school in an attempt to prevent Mikio from poisoning the children’s food. Meanwhile, elsewhere, Shin’s mother Kazuko and his older brother and sister are in mortal danger, as Shin realizes that Mikio is not the only person intent on murder!

Shin’s father, Bungo, disappears and falls under suspicion of attempted murder when Mikio is found unconscious in the back of his police car. It looks as though Bungo will be branded a criminal after all, even though Shin has prevented the murders at the elementary school. But the true murderer has saved his most evil and devious plan for last!
