The Hairy Bikers (Si King and Dave Myers) embark on their most iconic road trip to date – America's Route 66, to celebrate the food, history and culture that lies within this rich, rustic part of US. The boys motor through nine different states, carved into six legs, spanning over two thousand miles in which they visit destinations like Chicago, St Louis and Las Vegas, and travel through incredible landscapes from vast prairies in Oklahoma to the staggering scale of the Grand Canyon.

Épisode 1 - Chicago - St Louis

The first helping of this epic adventure runs from Chicago to St Louis and provides a wholesome bite into the story of America, a country built on migration.
Épisode 2 - Missouri - Kansas - Oklahoma

On the second leg of their Route 66 adventure, Dave and Si set out to discover what lies beneath the legend of this iconic road - a journey which takes them through three states. At a biker bar in Missouri they are inspired to go fishing on the Big Piney river, before cooking up a dish of blackened fish and dirty corn for the bar’s regulars. Next, the bikers ride the route’s thirteen miles through the state of Kansas, stopping for lunch at Old Riverton Store, its oldest continuously operating grocery store. Finally, Dave and Si head out to a remote patch of rural Oklahoma to spend time and cook with members of the Cherokee nation.
Épisode 3 - Oklahoma City - Amarillo

On the third leg of their trip, Dave and Si are on the trail of Oklahoma’s famous beef. In Oklahoma City, a classic T-bone steak is followed by a visit to the city’s Vietnamese community to knock up Vietnam’s beefy national dish, Phở. After checking out El Reno’s unique onion burger, the Bikers hook up with a couple of fire crews who like to cook - especially brisket. An organic sweet potato farm inspires the Bikers to make sweet potato brownies, before they finish this stretch on a cattle ranch with America’s most iconic custodian of the land, the cowboy.
Épisode 4 - Amarillo - Albuquerque

The fourth leg of the trip sees them ride from Texas into New Mexico. From burger joints to a cowboy emporium and a chocolatier to a cheesemaker, the bikers explore the small, independently owned restaurants and food producers - places that have achieved special recognition. Going from Amarillo to Albuquerque and travelling through Santa Fé, they discover that there is more to America than just endless chain restaurants and big-name brands. They also cook some real favourites: chilli con carne, carnitas with mac and cheese and a grown-up chilli chocolate pie.
Épisode 5 - Monument Valley - Seligman

For the fifth leg of this epic adventure, the bikers are crossing the state of Arizona in search of the Wild West. They start by making a small detour from route 66, starting in Monument Valley to learn more about this striking place and discover the Navajo Nation. First, they enlist some locals to visit the most iconic landscape in the US, which is also a very sacred land for the Navajo.
Épisode 6 - Las Vegas - Santa Monica

For the last leg of their Route 66 odyssey, the bikers are going west to California. First, they make a small detour to Las Vegas. Si and Dave have been invited by one of the youngest chefs in the country to learn how to make the best mashed potato in the world. Inspired by their Las Vegas extravaganza they cook the biggest, poshest lobster and prawn cocktail ever seen. Back on Route 66, they visit the town of Goffs, California, the epicentre of the Wild West, where they learn about the homestead scheme and discover the Mojave Desert. In an authentic rustic saloon, Si unknowingly eats a very modern burger - a vegan burger served up by Dave. After riding into Los Angeles, the bikers ditch their bikes to try something unique – cooking with marijuana. And later discover the best tacos they have ever eaten, then finish up by cooking by Santa Monica beach. Finally, they ride to the Santa Monica pier to park their bikes and walk to the official end of route 66.
