L’histoire se déroule en 2002 auprès de la brillante équipe masculine japonaise de gymnastique. Aragaki Shôtarô (29 ans), un ancien membre de l’équipe ayant consacré sa vie à la discipline, n'arrive plus à être assez performant. Il continuait malgré tout à s'entraîner avec acharnement quand un jour le coach Amakusa lui demande de prendre sa retraite. Shôtarô hésite, mais sa fille Rei le soutient. Toutefois, une rencontre va venir bouleverser le destin de la famille Aragaki.
