In the season premiere, we meet the Bachelorette, Trista, and learn about her past, who she is, and what makes her so special. Trista then hosts a cocktail party and is introduced to the 25 men hoping to become her husband for the first time. By the end of the evening, she faces the daunting task of selecting 15 whom she would like to know better, and presents each one with a single red rose. But at this point and at every point thereafter, the men can either accept or decline the Bachelorette's invitation to continue on the journey. After much deliberation, Trista offered a rose to Russell, Greg T., Ryan, Brian C., Brook, Michael, Brian S., Jack, Charlie, Josh, Brian H., Jamie, Rob, Jeff, and Bob. The men who accepted the rose will now move into a bachelor pad for much of their courtship with the Bachelorette.

The friends are then brought over to the men's house and introduced by Chris, and the questions begin. After the quiz, the girls dish together about how great the guys are. They were surprised that they hadn't heard more from Trista about Jamie, and were unimpressed with Russell, whom they had heard much about. They were also skeptical about Greg because they heard a comment that he may not accept a rose at the next ceremony, and Missy was very impressed with Ryan. Shannon sees Trista more with Charlie. He also tells them they have a unique opportunity — the next Rose Ceremony is also Trista's 30th birthday, and they should not be stupid and show up empty-handed. Vail with Ryan Ryan meets Trista and brings her to the fire station, where all of the other firemen are waiting outside to meet Trista. When they go inside, Ryan shows Trista how to slide down the pole - Ryan reveals that the fire pole is a big test for him, that anyone not willing to go down it is probably not worth the time. Trista goes for it with no reservation. The others welcome her to lunch and ask her about her interest in Ryan, as they don't want to lose him. The two take a water taxi over to a luxury houseboat, and after checking the boat out, they jump into the hot tub, looking out on the city. They talk about their relationship and kiss. Both of them fight their urges, though, obviously enjoying their time together. Next, it's out to dinner atop the Space Needle, where they continue to develop their bond. Ryan tells her that he doesn't believe in long engagements, and that he would take an engagement to her very seriously. They head into the living room and get to know Charlie a little better, talking about Charlie's career in finance; Charlie explains he thinks he's at a crossroads in his life. They go off to dinner with a bowl filled with questions that Trista's mom has written, with the idea of randomly picking questions out of the bowl. Meredith explains that being let go by Bob was the best thing that could have happened, because she now has the chance to let the real Meredith shine through. Meredith admits that she's very nervous and excited, and never thought she would be The Bachelorette. It's then time for Meredith to meet the men vying for her heart. The men arrive, and Rick, the second Bachelor out, tells Meredith he has a present for her, which he'll give to her later. Not to be out-done, Harold arrives with a hockey jersey as a gift. She arrives at his family's ranch house, and Matthew takes her out to an oak grove for a picnic and some casual fun, climbing trees and swinging on a rope. They enjoy each other's company and continue to grow closer together. They return to the house and meet his father Ray, brother Chris, uncle Jerome and mother Carol. Carol immediately tells Meredith she shouldn't want some Yankee-boy, she should want a nice, quiet Southerner. Ray tells the couple he's not sure how they could meet and grow so close in so short a time, but he can see how comfortable they are with each other. Matthew mentions that they feel like they've been together much longer than they have. Meredith seems to hit it off with the family, and is at ease with this very down-to-earth family. During elimination, the men get to vote on whom they would like to see go. The field of men is pared down to 16.

And when she hears that three men might have girlfriends back home, she cancels the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party. At the ceremony, she cuts the field to 10.

Andi responds with her trademark “Stoppp!,” followed by expletives and the shocking admission that she’s falling for more than one guy. Chris generously pretends this is interesting information and not a basic premise of the show before wishing Andi luck with her dates this week.

How much can you really trust a person, especially a reality show contestant searching for love on "The Bachelorette," a person you've only known for six weeks? Andi Dorfman sought to find the answer to this question on the sixth episode of "The Bachelorette," and Trinity High School basketball coach Brian Osborne found himself on the receiving end of some pretty intense questions. Brian has stripped on stage, sang with Boyz II Men and played basketball on group dates, but this would be his first lie detector test. Group Date Andi brought Brian, Josh, Dylan, Marcus, JJ and Chris to take a lie detector test in Venice, the most romantic city in the world. But this date wasn't so romantic. Here are some of the questions the guys had to answer: Have you ever cheated on a test? Are you here for the right reasons? Are you ready for marriage? Do you believe you could fall in love with Andi? Do you want kids? Are you good in bed? Do you wash your hands after you go to the bathroom? Have you ever fought in public? (Some of the guys, including Brian, thought the question was, "Have you farted in public," and they all answered, "yes!") The test reported that three of the six men told zero lies, one man told two lies, and two men told three lies. Andi told two lies herself. She said Italy was her favorite country, and she thought all of the guys were there for the right reasons. Apparently, neither is true. As a sign of her trustworthiness in the guys, Andi ripped up the results before she found out which of the men were the liars. After the test, Brian gave his own lie detector test to Andi. He asked her if she wanted to make out, and he called her bluff when she said, "no." After his private date last week, Brian knew Andi wanted him to be more confident and outgoing, and this was the perfect way to show her he's listening.
