Traci Young-Byron, a former Miami Heat Dancer and longtime team captain, is the owner of the elite dance company, the Young Contemporary Dance Theatre (YCDT). Over the course of eight hour-long episodes, the YCDT dancers push themselves to the limit to perform at high-profile events. Traci’s tough, no-nonsense attitude prepares her meticulously trained and always-on-point dancers, who vary in age, for the myriad dance genres they face, including ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, West African and hip-hop.

The dancers from the Young Contemporary Dance Theatre (YCDT) are headlining a big July 4th event and its director, Traci Young-Byron, decides to take a risk and allow both her Repertory and Company to perform. But when her intermediate dancers struggle to keep up and one of her principal Repertory dancers fails to show up to the event on time, it threatens to ruin the entire performance.

This week, Traci Young-Byron's YCDT dancers have been invited to audition for musical artist, Kiddie Garcia, in an exclusive concert showcase. Traci decides to only use only her top-tier Repertory dancers. Diaunte, one of her Company dancers, feels frustrated that he won't get a chance to perform. Meanwhile, Janae not only struggles with falling out of favor with Traci for being late to last week's performance, but she is also clashing at home with her overbearing mother Tamieka, who thinks Janae needs to 'step it up' at home.
