Charles II faces a backlash for his treatment of the regicides so he cracks down on dissenters while simultaneously organising a lavish coronation he hopes will cement his rule. But as day of his crowning approaches, the king learns that some of the most feared regicides have fled abroad where they are already spreading their republican ideas.
