Ronja est la fille de Mattis, chef d'un groupe de bandits qui vit dans un château au milieu de la forêt. Un jour, lors d'un périple dans les bois, elle rencontre quelques créatures mystiques et apprend à communier avec la nature. Elle fait également la connaissance de Birk, un garçon de son âge qui pourrait bien changer le cours de son existence…
