The show is Problems and it’s led by Sam Simmons, the undisputed master of suburban absurdity. This bald man with a questionable moustache has spent the last ten years crafting award-winning comedy, going from a cult hero on triple j to an international superstar. Whether he's wrapping his head in ham, serenading stuffed owls, or disco dancing in his own specially designed bread shoes, Sam Simmons is one of the most thrilling live performers in the comedy arena. He is an evangelical advocate for bringing ‘silly’ back to comedy.

Épisode 1 - Taco Night

21 novembre 2012 - 5/5

In episode one of Problems - Taco Night, Sam is convinced that they have changed the seasoning mix in his favourite pre-packaged tacos. Sam sets out to get some answers. He fantasises that 'Dr Mexico', the man on the box, lives in a corn-based wonderland, but the reality proves to be something else. In the end it is something else that has changed. Meanwhile the Moths (Suzy Porter and Gary Sweet) down the back of Sam's couch are locked in a loveless marriage. Claudia O'Doherty attempts to convince people to buy fantasy portraits of themselves as an 'accountant of the future'. Morgan (Anthony Morgan) and Mooney (Lawrence Mooney) wonder how much hair is too much hair to be growing off your block of cheese, and Dave (Dave Quirk) at Mall Bargains reveals himself as one of the country's foremost googly-eyed-gumnut-man-makers.

Épisode 2 - Bus Crush

28 novembre 2012 - 5/5

In episode two of Problems - Bus Crush, Sam has a huge crush on a girl he sees every day on the bus. But he is too scared to talk to her as she looks like she is out of his league; she could even be an apprentice hairdresser. Naturally, he seeks advice from Mr Meowgi (Ronny Chieng), his talking cat. This pigeon-obsessed ginger tom is also, unfortunately, Sam's incredibly unreliable spirit guide. Dave in Mall Bargains is no help either, his romantic advice lurches between naive and impossibly athletic. Meanwhile, the Moths (Gary Sweet and Suzy Porter) down the back of Sam's couch are heading for divorce fast. Love has never been smooth for Morgan (Anthony Morgan) and Mooney (Lawrence Mooney) but at least they have each other. Claudia (Claudia O'Doherty) makes a bus-safety video that helpfully explains that a bus is not a train.

Épisode 3 - First Hot Day

5 décembre 2012 - 3/5

In episode three of Problems - First Hot Day - it's the first scorcher of summer and Sam (Sam Simmons) badly wants an ice cream. But nothing is ever easy, and when the suburbs heat up, it gets even harder. When there is an angry mermaid, a card swallowing ATM and a mysterious tiger-kid in his way, Sam's quest looks all but impossible. Meanwhile, down the back of his couch, the Moth household (Gary Sweet and Susie Porter) is rocked by accusations of infidelity. Claudia O'Doherty is excited about selling chairs and is amazed that we aren't as pumped about upholstery as she is. Dave from Mall Bargains tries to convince Sam that dry toast is better than a soft-serve. Mooney tries to convince Morgan (Anthony Morgan) that having your sweat glands removed means a summer of bliss. And at the community hall along the road Warwick's mid-morning trivia takes a strange turn.

Épisode 4 - The Cardboard Angel

12 décembre 2012 - 4/5

Christmas will be a disaster if Sam (Sam Simmons) cannot replace the cardboard angel that has disappeared from the top of his tree. He searches for a replacement but when he drops by his mate's two dollar shop, he picks up something way more Christmasy - a one-man Samoan choir. A real one. This along with the nativity scene made entirely of meat, will make this the best Christmas ever. Claudia O'Doherty finds that the shoppers in her mall are not up for Halloween-themed Christmas decorations. The Moths get back together after a bitter split. And a bit of dusty tinsel will not make Warwick's mid-morning Trivia any better. Morgan and Mooney ruminate on the silly season and we all ask Santa for a second series.
