La jeune Hiromi Maiharu vient de déménager dans la ville portuaire de Kamakura. La ville offre des vues magnifiques sur la mer comme sur la montagne et cela lui donne envie de s'essayer de nouveau au vélo, chose qu'elle n'a pas fait depuis des années. Malgré le fait qu'elle ne s'est pas entraînée, elle décide, pour son premier jour d'école, de partir en vélo. Mais Hiromi perd l'équilibre et fonce tout droit en direction d'une jeune fille qui va dans la même école qu'elle : Tomoe Akizuki, qui deviendra par ailleurs sa nouvelle amie. Cette dernière va l'aider à refaire du vélo correctement et va alors lui faire découvrir le monde du cyclisme.
