“Marzahn, mon amour” tells the autobiographically inspired story of Kathi Grabowski (Jördis Triebel), who turns her life completely upside down. After her husband Heiko (Holger Bülow) has moved out, she can no longer keep herself and her daughter Lilly (Maja Bons) afloat as writers. So she decides to make a fresh start as a chiropodist in Berlin-Marzahn, once the largest prefabricated housing estate in the GDR.

Author Kathi (Jördis Triebel) is in the midst of a life crisis: a lack of orders, a separation and her daughter Lilly (Maja Bons) is annoyed. Without further ado, Kathi starts working as a pedicurist at Jenny's (Yvonne Yung Hee Bormann) and Lulu's (Deborah Kaufmann) “Beauty Oasis Marzahn”. There she has to treat her hated neighbor (Hermann Beyer), who refuses to let go of his GDR past.

Chiropody is a special kind of care work: when Kathi (Jördis Triebel) treats the stubborn Doris Nocke (Katrin Heller) and her mother (Monika Lennartz), she finds herself caught between the fronts of an ongoing conflict. Kathi also finds it difficult to deal with her own daughter Lilly (Maja Bons), who is suffering from the separation of her parents.
