La famille de Marshall Teller emménage dans la petite ville d'Eerie dans l'Indiana, population : 16.661 habitants. Là, Marshall, accompagné de son jeune voisin Simon, découvre que Eerie est le théâtre de phénomènes étranges. Elvis y vit, ainsi que des jumeaux qui restent jeunes en dormant dans des Tupperware, et d'autres choses encore plus étranges... Les deux garçons conserveront à chaque fois une preuve de leur découverte, rangeant le tout précieusement dans le grenier des Teller, pour prouver que Eerie est bel et bien la capitale de l'étrange.

A strange bum is assaulted by a woman with a ray gun. distracts her until the police arrive, and then Marshall decides to help out a bum after witnessing him being attacked by a woman with a ray gun. It is difficult though, because all he does is mumble nonsense, and reassemble electrical appliances into bizarre contraptions.
