Dan est un idiot puéril pris au piège dans la vie d'un adulte, dont le monde est près de s'effondre. Sa petite amie Naomi perd rapidement patience à cause de son incapacité à naviguer dans les tâches les plus simples de la vie. Il a deux amis exceptionnellement dysfonctionnels et une carrière d'enseignant apathique qui le voit à enseigner contrecoeur la même leçon chaque jour. Inexplicablement populaire auprès de tous sauf un des élèves, avec son seul point culminant venant sous la forme de Miss Lipsey, une maîtresse en chef qui voit Dan avec un mélange de pitié et de désespoir. Pour aggraver les choses, il est tourmenté quotidiennement par son père volontairement fou, dont la motivation motrice dans la vie semble être de s'assurer que son fils est humilié à chaque tour.

Will Dennis have enough fun to wow the headmistress with a retelling of Dan's big-hearted gesture?

Meanwhile, issues at home force Dan back into to the gym... although working out is the last thing he wants to do.
