Le 29 juillet 1921, en pleine guerre du Rif, la duchesse de Victoria arrive avec un groupe d’infirmières pour stabiliser l’hôpital de la Croix Rouge. De tous âges et issues de la haute société, ces dernières sont envoyées par la reine Victoria Eugenia au chevet de soldats blessés soignés à l’hôpital de Melilla, ville espagnole formant une enclave dans le territoire marocain.
