Ichika Kuwanoki, who lost her husband in the war, is the eldest daughter of Kuwanoki, a long-established ryotei in Kyoto, but works at a hotel as a chef of a western-style restaurant. Meanwhile, Ichika’s younger sister Futaba is matched with the Yamaguchi family, a hotel owner in Osaka, by a 19-year-old college student named Amane. Ichika, who was present at the marriage interview, was unintentionally repulsed by the man’s blunt remarks. The next day, “something” happens that shakes Ichika’s life…

In exchange for her sister, Ichika decides to enter into a marriage of convenience with Amane. With the Yamaguchi family’s support, Kuwanoki was promised to survive, and her mother Aiko, and Aunt Machiko were overjoyed. Ichika was uneasy about marrying Amane, whose age and personality were drastically different from hers, but the marriage talk went quickly, and the newlyweds began their married life together. One day, Ichika meets Morgan, a woman from the GHQ Procurement Department, at the hotel where she works. Later, a dinner for the Procurement Department was to be held at Kuwanoki, but according to Tajima, the senior chef at the hotel, Morgan would not eat food made by the Japanese. Kuwanoki rents out its kitchen to foreign chefs, but Amane and the head chef Togawa are at odds over the management decision. Amid the unrest, Amane suggests that Ichika prepare just one dish.

Through Morgan’s referral, Kuwanoki receives a reservation for a social gathering, but Togawa quits the restaurant over the management policy. The search for a new chef was unsuccessful, and Amane persuaded Ichika to serve as the acting head chef for one day. Ichika visits Amane’s brother, Yukari, to prepare for the social gathering, and realizes that Yukari’s wife, Suzune, is very special to Amane… On the day of the social gathering, Amane once again causes a stir amidst the anticipation of Ichika’s cooking!

Amidst the unpleasant atmosphere, Amane celebrates his 20th birthday… At that time, Ichika sees Amane spending time with his friends and has certain thoughts. After much deliberation, Ichika decides to tell his senior chef Tajima about a serious decision she has made.

Ichika learns that the reason she ran away was because of a rift with her husband, Yukari, and decides to let them stay for a while. Amane’s friend Arikawa comes to Kuwanoki with a request to hold a wedding reception with his girlfriend at Kuwanoki, and Kuwanoki suddenly becomes a busy place. One day, Ichika witnessed Amane comforting Suzune, who was hurting, and realized her own “feelings”.

Épisode 9 - Moving Forward Daifuku Fruit

At last, Yukari came to Kuwanoki to bring Suzune and Sayoko back. In an emotional argument between Yukari and Suzune, Amane tells his brother to get out of Kuwanoki. Unable to bear the sight, Ichika gives Yukari a homemade daifuku fruit, but the dish contains a secret… Through Ichika’s intervention, Yukari and Suzune come face to face once again. Meanwhile, the end of one year, the “deadline for rebuilding Kuwanoki” agreed upon between Amane and his father, Shigeru, was approaching!

Épisode 10 - The New Kuwanoki Flavor

A cooking contest is held, with Kuwanoki’s very existence at stake. Ichika and Amane are fired up upon learning that Togawa, the former head chef who abandoned Kuwanoki, will be participating in the competition and that the judge will be someone with a history connected to Kuwanoki. However, the two have differing intentions: Ichika wants to rebuild Kuwanoki to free Amane, while Amane wants to rebuild Kuwanoki and walk alongside Ichika. Finally, the contest arrives. What is the fate of Kuwanoki, and what will become of the couple, Ichika and Amane?
