Un nouveau télescope a permis de révéler la présence d'eau sur la planète Mars. Les humains la colonisent, mais la vie y est difficile. Des révoltes apparaissent. Un jeune homme, Graham River, va acquérir un étrange mécha grâce à un mystérieux pendentif qu'il possède et va se retrouver sur un vaisseau pirate surnommé le Vaisseau de l'Aurore. Il décide de s'embarquer dans celui-ci dans lequel il va trouver de nouveaux amis avec qui il va vivre des aventures palpitantes. En parallèle, l'amie d'enfance de Graham, Vestemona Lauren, s'est engagée dans l'armée et elle est envoyée sur Mars pour lutter contre les pirates. Elle s'aperçoit très vite que Graham en fait partie. Elle va essayer de le remettre sur le droit chemin.
