A tale of fantasy and magic set in the 17th Century. Johan Claeszoon (Frank Aendenboom) is a young student doctor who meets a strange creature in the Nekkersbos (Nekkers Forest): the Alverman of Avalon (Jef Cassiers). He gives Johan a magical ring called Fafiefoernik.

Épisode 1 - Aflevering 1
23 octobre 1965
Johan is on his way to his uncle Willem. At the inn, he meets Don Christobal, Rosita and Ottorongo. When Arabella, Rosita's parrot, flies away, Johan goes looking for her. Along the way, he meets a strange little man.

6 novembre 1965
Rosita is inconsolable over the loss of Arabella. Johan finds the bird in the Devil's Cave, which he manages to get out of thanks to the Alverman. When he wants to bring Arabella back, Ottorongo tries to prevent it, until a third gentleman appears.

Johan has arrived at Uncle Willem's after all. But strange things are happening there too... Johan finds the Alverman wounded in the barn. He takes care of him, but the next day the Alverman has disappeared again.

Johan learns the Alverman's language and takes him to Uncle Willem and Aunt Liezelotje. Together, they want to give the gold coins from the hidden treasure of de Sénancourt a good purpose.

The two servants of de Sénancourt kidnap Uncle Ben. Fortunately, Johan is able to free him. The Alverman wants to help Johan win Rosita's heart. He forges a beautiful piece of jewelry for her and plays serenades under her window.

Don Christobal thinks that his daughter's unknown admirer is Jonker de Sénancourt. Therefore, he invites him to the castle. Only when the first notes of the serenade resound does the great mistake become apparent.

de Sénancourt sets a trap for Johan. Unsuspectingly, Johan loads salt instead of flour, and at the city gate, he is thus accused of salt smuggling and imprisoned!

It is Beltandag, the day on which the Alvermen come out of their subterranean dwellings. Alverman, whose real name is Fiefoerniek, has an appointment today with Alveric, the king of the Alvermen.

Don Christobal forbids Rosita to ever meet Johan again, but the two go boating together anyway. de Sénancourt sees them and immediately goes to report this to Don Christobal. He has Rosita locked up in the tower room.

Don Christobal does not give up. He invites de Sénancourt to Rosita's birthday party. At her insistence, he also has to invite Johan. de Sénancourt is furious when Rosita rejects his marriage proposal. He plots revenge.

Uncle Willem is arrested and questioned about his nephew Johan. Fortunately, Don Christobal is able to save him from the rack. Meanwhile, Johan and the Alverman have ended up in an inn with a strange couple.

Johan's arrival in Avalon is not welcomed by everyone, especially not by Gilzak, one of Alveric's councilors. He lures Johan into a trap and takes the medicine from him.

Back from Avalon, Johan stays in hiding until Uncle Ben has freed the envoy. Uncle Ben lends a hand to unmask the guilty ones. The Alverman is now back in Avalon and just can't forget his earthly friend Johan.
