This is the second series, following Jim Henson's The Storyteller, which aired in 1988. The title role is played by Michael Gambon this time and his faithful dog is there, still voiced by Brian Henson. Instead of the European folk tales told in the first season, this series of four deals with the ancient Greek Myths. Please note: If you are planning on watching the series and are unfamiliar with the myths being portrayed, the episode descriptions in this guide will all contain spoilers.

Épisode 1 - Theseus & The Minotaur

The story begins with the second Storyteller and the Storyteller's dog crashing through a wall of an old building, no - not a building, a labyrinth, the labyrinth built by King Minos of Crete - the labyrinth of the Minotaur. But the labyrinth has been deserted for centuries now and the Storyteller begins to recount the story of the Minotaur - half man, half bull, mad with anger and sadness and of how, every seven years, Athenians would send seven youths and seven maidens to Crete and to the labyrinth of the Minotaur. Only Ariadne comes and goes as she pleases into the Minotaur's labyrinth. Meanwhile, Theseus finds his true identity and his path will cross that of Ariadne and the Minotaur. Theseus will become a hero but Theseus has a problem, he makes promises that he never keeps and it is this which will make him lose everything - his way, his love and his family.
Épisode 2 - Perseus & The Gorgon

Crashing through another wall, the Storyteller and his dog come across stone statues. There they find a half buried head of a gorgon, that of Medusa. It begins with Acrisius, King of Argos being foretold that the son of his daughter will one day become king. So Acrisius banishes his daughter where Zeus visits her in a shower of gold and thus Perseus is born. But Acrisius eventually finds out and shuts the mother and son in a chest and throws them into the sea. But they survive and Perseus grows up; where, to save his mother from the wicked Polydektes, he vows to bring back the head of the Gorgon - Medusa. With the Gods giving him a sword, shield and advice, Perseus races to his fate...
Épisode 3 - Orpheus & Eurydice

Orpheus plays music and people want to hear. One day he plays in the forest and wakes Eurydice, the wood nymph and they fall in love and marry. After a short while, Eurydice is struck dead by the bite of a snake. Orpheus is determined to get her back and goes down into the Underworld to bring her back to the Earth above. But he has to convince Hades to give her back and Hades doesn't care for the music of Orpheus...
Épisode 4 - Daedalus & Icarus
22 décembre 1991
Daedalus was a great inventor but the wanted more than anything to fly. His son was clumsy but his nephew was of great promise and inventiveness. Whilst swinging his nephew one day, sees Daedalus let his nephew fall accidentally off the roof of his house, where the boy dies. Thus Daedalus and his son flee Athens and eventually end up in Crete where he ends up making toys on the street. There he falls under the eye of King Minos who needs him to build a cage, a very special cage; to hold a creature, a creature that is a curse on the king's family. So Daedalus uses his genius to build a labyrinth - a labyrinth for the Minotaur; but as the king and Daedalus are the only ones to know the escape route, the evil King Minos locks Daedalus and his son up. After escaping the labyrinth the pair have to escape Crete, Daedalus builds wings, one for himself and one for his son - Icarus...
