Bienvenue à Ikebukuro West Gate Park. Un square ouvert aux aventuriers urbains, à la sortie ouest de la gare d'lkebukuro. C'est là que Makoto et ses amis ont établi leur QG. Makoto a dix-neuf ans, et c'est un trouble shooter, un "solutionneur d'embrouilles". Des embrouilles, il n'en manque pas dans ce quartier où se rencontrent gamins à la dérive, yakuzas, filles perdues et clandestins dans le Japon de l'envers. Avec pour seules armes son énergie et sa débrouillardise, Makoto résout les énigmes, vient en aide à ceux qui sont dans la détresse, et tente de ramener la paix dans les rues menacées par une sanglante guerre des gangs.
