In Het verhaal van Nederland - Amsterdam neemt Daan Schuurmans de kijker mee door 750 jaar geschiedenis van onze hoofdstad. In het bekende format van de succesvolle serie reist Schuurmans door de tijd en is hij ooggetuige van de belangrijkste historische ontwikkelingen van Amsterdam. In vier afleveringen ontmoeten we pioniers, migranten, dromers en doeners die allemaal op hun eigen manier een bijdrage hebben geleverd aan de groei van de stad. Zij stonden aan de wieg van het succes maar ook van het falen van Amsterdam en bouwden aan het bijzondere imago van een hoofdstad die wereldwijd en al eeuwenlang tot de verbeelding spreekt.
