French and Saunders, the world-class comedy duo, have been around now for nearly 20 years entertaining us through the box in the corner. French and Saunders are famous for many takes/spoofs; but most notably the world famous comedy show Absolutely Fabulous, which started in the late 80s, early 90s as a small sketch of a modern mother and daughter. For the first four series they were joined by the spoof middle-of-the-road comedy cabaret duo Raw Sex (Rivron and Brint), who also supported in the sketches. In the 1996 series the duo returned to our screens for more hilarious takes of Baywatch, Braveheart and the singer Bjork. After many years without a series French and Saunders returned in the fall of 2004 for a 6th series of the smash hit comedy.

Épisode 9 - Easter Special 1999
2 mai 1999
The nineties crime drama Silent Witness made it into the repertoire, becoming Witless Silence. Jennifer Saunders took the part of the forensic pathologist made famous by Amanda Burton and performed with understated relish. All the ingredients were there: the despondent shrug, that ponderous stare and, since Burton is from the Emerald Isle, the obligatory, "Har are yer?" But despite her skill in the morgue, our heroine can never quite manage to get her relationships together, despite those smugly arched eyebrows. While in the mood for bringing down giants it makes sense to go the whole hog, and next in French & Saunders' sights is the mighty Boyzone. A short, sharp shockingly funny Mickey-take out of the boy band that grew up. Perfect in their roles were Dawn as down-at-heel Steven Gately and Jennifer as frontman Ronan Keating. Together, much as in the real thing, these two singers make up the five-piece band. Alanis Morrisette - a respected artist whose music is memorable and poignant. An ideal candidate, then, for treatment by Jennifer Saunders, although this time as Aimless Morris Minor singing Bless You (formerly Thank You). The said treatment is to remedy over-dependence on a thesaurus. Our spring concert closes with Dawn French (herself born in Holyhead, North Wales) masquerading as Catatonia-cum-Catantonic frontwoman and First Lady of Welsh pop, Cerys Mathews. Not only back to her roots but back to the local pub belting out Cymru Pride in a smoke filled, disco-lit bar. An altogether different kind of Welsh Assembly.
Épisode 10 - The Phantom Millennium
28 décembre 1999
Our contessas of comedy didn't disappoint with this year's Christmas Special. Their movie spoofs are already the stuff of legend but their 'Star Wars' spectacular, subtitled 'The Phantom Millennium', was surely another classic. Jennifer Saunders did an uncanny riposte of Qui-Gon Jinn while Dawn French became Toby Jugs Kenobi. Then there was a fantastic Martine McCutcheon send-up by French, while Jennifer cleverly aped the crazed Melanie C (Sporty Spice). The other sketches which punctuated the show featured French & Saunders' customary surreal living room chat and Dawn as a stroppy 'Diana Ross' aeroplane passenger to Jennifer's airport security officer. But the star of this show was always the movie send-up which with French & Saunders' acute observations, fantastic hair and make-up, surprisingly good special effects (did you check those lightsabres?) and a generous dollop of silliness made 'The Phantom Millennium' a treasure.
Épisode 11 - The Egg
29 mars 2002
Armed with ring and staff, French & Saunders deliver a full complement of Easter funnies. Beginning with a cockle-warming reunion as Grandalf the sage-like wizard is reunited with his young hobbit friend. Some optical disillusionment later, and the quest is underway; the wizard seeks to align himself with a mysterious sorcerer who looks remarkably like Dale Winton, while the mischievous hobbit uses all his ingenuity to escape the murderous Ringwraiths.
Épisode 12 - Celebrity Christmas Puddings
25 décembre 2002
Épisode 13 - Harry Potter and the Secret Chamberpot of Azerbaijan
14 mars 2003
Épisode 14 - French & Saunders Actually
26 décembre 2003
French and Saunders skewer female excess like no one else--in a holiday special included as a bonus, French does a devastating version of Catherine Zeta-Jones giddily reveling in her success, giving a Christmas speech as the Queen of Wales. The loopiness of the best bits defies description; their rapport and timing are simply exquisite. It's a pleasure to be in their company again
