The trench knife was developed during World War I for soldiers to have a close combat weapon. In their design they included a mitten, brass knuckle or boxing key in the grip to be able to attack with any part of the weapon. This endowed knives with popularity and effectiveness, since they could be cutting and concussion weapons. But they should not start from a classic steel bar, but rather they should choose raw material from a forklift that goes for scrap.

Nicolás, Adrián, Manuel and Miguel face a new challenge in transforming horse rasps and a piece of 1070 steel incorporating both types of metal to make a friction razor. They must carry out the fusion process of the two materials through the Chaldean style, similar to Damascus steel, multi-laminated. The friction knife or faithful knife is one of the first folding knives that existed, with a blade that folds over the handle. It became popular in Spain in the 16th century when Carlos I promulgated a law that prohibited people who were not part of the nobility from carrying swords and long-bladed weapons. Its use was the legal shortcut that the mob found to continue carrying long bladed weapons.

Participants from Brazil, Mexico and Argentina face each other in the forge. They will have to forge an astronaut knife with a 1070 steel bar and technological garbage that will be exposed to the toughest tests. Who will get the most points up for grabs?

Épisode 2 - Daga Taureg

For the first time, Forged In Fire Latin America takes the forge outdoors. Blacksmiths will use different types of scrap steel to forge a Tuareg dagger. The judges will test the weapons against an old tractor, clay vases and pieces of meat.

Épisode 3 - Machete Golok

To determine the 1st runner-up, the blacksmiths will have to obtain the steel by forging a wire box. Then, they will have 6 hours to forge a Golok machete. The judges will test them against a concrete tower and ammunition box, and test the edge by cutting watermelon and bamboo poles.

Only 1 of the participants will be a finalist in the Latin American Fire Challenge: they will have to use steel cable to forge a Celtic ring knife with organic materials and without rivets. The judges assess its resistance by hitting material similar to that of an animal skull.

Épisode 7 - Kindjal Cosaco

The best blacksmiths in Latin America have qualified for the final and must demonstrate their talent using firefighter's bars and steel to forge a Kindjal saber. In addition, they will have to choose a damascus steel pattern and execute it perfectly.

Épisode 8 - Cuchillo de Autor

The 4 finalists compete by forging their signature knives using the powdered damascus technique. The jury will evaluate its toughness cutting a block of ice, its sharpness slicing fruit and its lethality skewering a doll.

The second outdoor challange. Participants must disassemble a truck to forge a Creole faca characteristic of the south of the American continent. The first problem that arises is working with coal forges: they are difficult to light and it is even more difficult to keep them on high heat.

Épisode 3 - Kris Malayo

It is decision day. One of the participants will go straight to the final, two will go to the re-trials and the rest will go home. In the workshop the tool bags are hung and caged. Roger, Silvana, Julián and Sergio have to free them to forge a Malaysian kris in just six hours.
