Miyazawa Yukino est une jeune fille modèle depuis la petite école : "Reine de la Vanité" qui ne peut se passer des compliments d'autrui, elle fait tout pour réussir ce qu'elle entreprend et être le parfait exemple à suivre pour ses camarades de classe. C'est seulement chez elle que Miyazawa révèle sa véritable personnalité, profondément égoïste et manipulatrice... A la rentrée au lycée, elle rencontre un obstacle majeur en la personne de Arima Souichiro : lui aussi est un élève modèle mais sa nature exemplaire est bien sincère de sorte que, très vite, il devient la coqueluche de l'établissement. Folle de jalousie, Miyazawa fait tout pour le dépasser et s'approprier ce qu'elle estime lui être dû. Mais un jour, Arima découvre par accident la véritable personnalité de Miyazawa : rapidement, les ennemis deviennent amis, et un jour, l'amour...
