Dans la ville de Dragon city où la paix règne entre dragons et humains, se trouve une société. À sa tête, Word Paynn, le tyran, désire détruire cette paix pour dominer le monde, ce qui ne lui est possible qu'à condition de contrôler les dragons. Un jour, le père d'un garçon d'écurie qui élève des Dragons transmet à son fils une étoile qui appartenait autrefois au précédent Dragon Booster. Par la suite, il disparaît dans une explosion pendant une tentative d'enlèvement du Dragon d'or. Artha Penn découvre Mortis, un mage qui lui remet le gantelet d'or. Depuis ce jour, Artha et son dragon Beau (le dragon d'or, nom complet : Beaucéphalis) luttent contre les forces maléfiques et les tentatives d'enlèvement de Beau.
