Jon, sa femme Susan et son jeune fils David, font partie du programme de protections des témoins mis en place par le Département de la Justice Américaine. Le trio est « déplacé » à New-York où il est assigné sous l’étroite surveillance d’un agent du FBI, Mike. Jusque là, rien d’extraordinaire. Le principe dérape totalement dans l’absurde lorsque Jon accepte d’être filmé dans le cadre d’une émission de téléréalité, « Delocated », qui suivra ses mouvements, ainsi que ceux de sa famille.
