This is my first Youtube video, but I've had an obsession with multi-level-marketing companies for a while and their business methods and recruitment practices. I've been wondering why MLM's have not been regulated more harshly which is why I began researching the history of mlm's, eventually coming across a company I was already somewhat familiar with- Amway. Amway and the Devos family have strategically involved themselves in politics and have quite a hold on the American government, which seems to be a reason why MLMs continue to thrive with very little regulation. Épisode 2 - The Truth About Goop's SCAMMERY

Today I wanted to talk about something that blows my mind- goop and it's business model. I wanted to talk about all the problems with Gwyneth Paltrow's company goop and how they may use fear mongering tactics to spread misinformation in order to sell their extremely expensive and overpriced products. Funny enough I filmed this before the Netflix "documentary..?" trailer came out featuring the infamous Gwyneth Paltrow herself, but I've had a bone to pick with goop for quite some time. As a health and wellness nerd myself, I feel goop and companies like it with "high-end" health products perpetuate the idea that health products are only for the wealthy and elite who can afford it. I also think much of what goop sells on it's website have health claims with no scientific basis or backing, which can only do damage for the "clean"/"wellness" movement. Articles featured on the goop blog allude to a lifestyle in favor of alternative medicine, spreading distrust in science and medicine in an effort for goop to gain consumer's trust, and in turn... their wallets. This is my opinion of course, but I wanted to point out in today's video all the problems with goop and why it's a company doing more harm than good to the wellness community. In today's #antimlm video I discuss the infamous snake oil company Young Living and their deceptive practices. I dive into some cringey hun bot Facebook posts, talk about false claims made by distributers inflating the benefits of essential oils, and talk about the founder of Young Living, Gary Young, who is someone definitely worth examining... What is an MLM? MLM stands for Multi-Level Marketing which is a network marketing style company that puts an emphasis on recruiting people underneath you to distribute products rather than selling the products to actual customers. This can create an array of problems, primarily being that the structure of a company like this is very similar to a pyramid scheme, which is illegal. Distributers are also pushed to try and recruit friends and family which leads to a falling out with friends and family most of the time. 90% of people who join an mlm company LOSE MONEY. There's a pandemic that's affecting the world and causing mass panic- some people, like our medical professionals, are stepping up to help others selflessly. Others, however, are exploiting this pandemic for their own personal gain. In my opinion, it's disgusting, and needs to be talked about. First I talk about MLM distributors who make wild claims about their mlm products helping cure/prevent coronavirus (mainly examples used are from Young Living and doTERRA, two essential oil mlm companies). Then I talk about other scammers who have said their product cures corona, such as Kenneth Copeland attempting to "cure" people of the virus through his televangelist powers that apparently can transport through tv screens, Jim Bakker who sold a "silver solution" and claimed that it would cure all viruses and went on to say some of the most outright outrageous claims I've ever heard, and Alex Jones who claimed his products, particularly his toothpaste, would cure COVID-19. Apart from people who have made outrageous product claims, some other ways people are exploiting the pandemic is through hoarding needed products and supplies. Lastly I discuss the immoral way MLM reps are attempting to recruit people into their downlines by using the fear of this pandemic against them. This topic, in my opinion, is one of the most important topic regarding multi level marketing companies! In today's video I want to talk about how MLMs and mlm distributors target moms, mainly stay at home moms, and ruin a lot of female friendships in the process. This is not MLM vs ANTIMLM, this is not about the anti mlm community spreading any negativity towards women in mlms but the exact opposite! In this video I want to highlight why women in mlms need the antimlm community's love and support and why we should start working to politely inform women in mlms and let them know we are working with them- not against them! Military spouses know, multi level marketing companies have had a giant presence in the military spouse community for quite some time. Today I want to talk about why this happens, and how we can come together to help stop the spread of misinformation and "scammy" mlm practices within the military spouse community. I discuss some of the data discovered by the Department of Defense on the many challenges of military spouses- the social and physical isolation, lack of jobs and extremely high unemployment rate, and challenges with childcare. This has got to be the most effort and research put into a video yet! I'm so thankful to have the help and support from someone involved in the CBD industry, Jakie Waple founder of the Hemp Force, and couldn't have made this video without her help. Emerging studies are showing promising benefits of CBD, or cannibidiol. This has garnished increased interest in CBD products by consumers which has caused a massive spike in new CBD businesses. Unfortunately, since the FDA is not regulating the production and standards of CBD products, there have been reports of CBD labeled products with dangerous ingredients, no CBD or a different level of CBD than their product claims. Today I discuss the CBD industry landscape, how to spot fake products and lastly CBD mlms like Hempworx, Kannaway and HB Naturals. After posting my video on Tyra Banks' MLM makeup line, a lot of you requested a follow-up video on some other shady things Tyra Banks has done. Lately there's been some controversy over problematic clips that have resurfaced from ANTM, but I wanted to share even more information I've been collecting over the past few weeks. After diving into more research, I uncovered some problematic things Tyra has done and is currently doing that showcase her hypocrisies and desperate attempts to boost her businesses, and make a profit at the expense of the young women who look up to her and who she claims she "empowers". Now, this may sound harsh but with Tyra's extensive track record I showcase in this video it's coming from a place of quality research, evidence and "receipts". This video is not intended to solely bash on Tyra, but to raise awareness of the issues that we have long ignored or brushed aside. Tyra is an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, a startup investor and founder and a black woman who has made a successful name for herself. Unfortunately we have lost another to a MLM, but this scenario is a little more serious than that. In this video I want to examine Alexa Villa's relationship with Young Living and how she promotes them. Mainly I want to look at some of the suspicious claims made by her that may perpetuate misinformation as well as the strange lack of disclosure on the specific nature of her business relationship with Young Living. Reality is, Alexa Vega has a large following and she is encouraging her followers to join a company notorious for it's predatory recruitment practices and the dangerous and wild claims made by it's reps. Alexa Vega is also clearly being sponsored by Young Living, but giving the illusion that her and her husband are simply Young Living reps themselves with no bias towards the company. This illusion is misinforming their followers and possibly encouraging them to sign up for YL under false pretenses. At the end of the day, with great influence comes great responsibility, and those who actively mislead their followers should be held accountable for it (in my opinion)... MLM reps have been posting some ridiculous stuff lately, exposing how tone deaf they really are... in this video I analyzed some of the recent posts and reactions from "mlm huns" and examined how being a part of a mlm may contribute to ignorance or "tone deafness". Some of these posts may be comical but the underlying tone is fairly disturbing, portraying a much larger issue of willful ignorance and misinterpretation of current events. I firmly believe accountability is essential for any social media poster, but most importantly mlm reps and their posts because they are conducting their "business" online, aka, as they so commonly claim; "Facebook is their workplace". They not only attempt to manipulate their friends, family, and following into joining their "downline" and spending money on their mlm with the promise of financial prosperity, but they also spread ideology on the exact same platform that they do so, so if this ideology is hateful, I personally see this as a form of workplace discrimination/ harassment and think it's important to discuss it! After posting a video covering the beauty industry, I wanted to do a follow up video discussing some problematic aspects of influencer brands. Unfortunately, influencer brands can be harmful, can take advantage of a vulnerable or caring audience, and can leverage an influencer's audience for financial gain. I wanted to have a conversation about when an influener brand goes too far, or uses shady tactics to sell a product and how we can identify when that is happening. With all the recent "beauty drama" and "controversy" I couldn't help but notice that the beauty gurus and influencers all seemed to have their own brands and collaborations that are somehow intertwined with the drama and controversies, and I wanted to examine whether or not that was an intentional thing, and whether or not influencers use drama to gain a favorable stance for their brand.
