Épisode 1 - Forgotten Front

When communications with the "Black Rook" patrol that was sent to get the location of a German big gun is suddenly cut off, Saunders and his men ("White Rook") go in to find out what happened. In a dye factory, they find the missing patrol all dead and a hidden German deserter. Saunders must decide if the prisoner lives or dies when the squad makes their escape.
Épisode 2 - Rear Echelon Commandos

On the frontline, the squad receives three new replacements straight from rear echelon duty in England. They are Gainsborough (a scared, overweight cook), Temple (an equally scared ex-ballet dancer), and Crown (a radio announcer whose cocky attitude masks his fear). Saunders reluctantly takes these newcomers on a dangerous recon mission and discovers that his survival depends on the ingenuity of these misfits.
Épisode 3 - Lost Sheep, Lost Shepherd

Jeffrey Hunter stars in "Lost Sheep, Lost Shepherd" as tanker Sgt. Dane, a man mad at the world, mad at the war, and mad at God. He's not too thrilled with Hanley and Saunders, either. During a German breakthrough, Hanley and a squad of men become cut off behind enemy lines. They are saved from a German ambush by the unexpected appearance of Dane and his tank. Their gratitude is short-lived as Dane’s recklessness and anger takes on a savage edge and they discover the secret he can’t live with: that he’s a failed priest now turned killer.
Épisode 4 - Any Second Now

While in a French town on leave, Hanley's leg is pinned by some debris during a bombing raid. In the church building with him is an undetonated German bomb which is still timed to explode. Help arrives in the form of an British demolition expert who is suffering battle fatigue and is angry at Hanley for trying to pickup his girl at a local bar.

The squad B.A.R. (Browning Automatic Rifle) man, Saunders' friend, is killed. Kirby believes Saunders will give him the B.A.R., but Saunders decides to give it to the new man, a cook that had qualified on the B.A.R. in basic training. After the new man is killed, Saunders finds his reasoning for giving it to him didn't matter.
Épisode 6 - Missing in Action

A mission to retrieve a downed pilot becomes even more nerve-wracking when Lt. Hanley's battle-fatigued squad mistakenly shoots the messenger who delivered the U.S. war hero pilot's whereabouts to them. Lt. Hanley doesn't want this mission, but he's assured that a grizzled "Maquisard" truck driver will transport them safely to the farm where French Resistance have hidden the wounded bomber pilot.
Épisode 7 - Escape to Nowhere

While playing possum behind enemy lines, the wounded Hanley is captured and then interrogated. When Hanley won't t cooperate, a German general calmly kills his chauffeur and forces Hanley to replace him. General Von Strelitz takes Hanley away for further questioning. Von Strelitz refuses to explain what he's plotting, and Lt. Hanley doesn't appreciate the promotion to Kapitan in the Heer.
Épisode 8 - The Celebrity

Del Packer, a famous baseball star who was drafted into the army, winds up as a replacement in the squad. While Kelly looks for a way to make some money by setting up a baseball game with a neighboring outfit, Billy--a devoted baseball fan--is awestruck to be in the same squad as one of his heroes. However, Packer has his own demons to fight, and while the other squad members are too star-struck to notice that something may be wrong, Saunders isn't.

A worn out Sgt. Saunders must lead Sgt. Jenkins & his men into an area that had already seen lots of casualties. All but Saunders & Jenkins are killed before they reach their objective. After his capture Jenkins uses his capture to enable Saunders to obtain the information needed.
Épisode 10 - I Swear by Apollo

A wounded Frenchman has important information. He and another man are injured when a land mind goes off. The squad takes refuge in a Convent of cloistered Nuns. Hanley arrives and brings information that the doctor died of a heart attack on the way, Saunders and Caje goe into the village in search of the local doctor. The only doctor they find is a German doctor. They take him back with them.
Épisode 11 - A Day in June

In a flashback story told as the men rest on a rainy night, Sgt. Saunders recalls the experiences of himself and several other men on the day of the D-Day invasion. This includes tales about Braddock who won the platoon pool for when the invasion would take place; Doc Walton who was reluctant to go into battle; Caje (called "Caddie" in this episode) who is accompanied by another Cajun; and Lt. Hanley who at the time was still a sergeant, and had little battle experience compared to Saunders. Following the landing, the men move inland and come upon a farmstead held by a squad of German infantry.
Épisode 12 - The Prisoner

Braddock, while on duty as Lt. Hanley's runner, is "appropriated" by a tough-talking, overbearing colonel as his jeep driver. Unfortunately the colonel decides to drive the jeep himself, and his reckless driving results in an accident in which both men are knocked unconscious. When Braddock awakens he is captured by a German patrol, but since he happens to be wearing the colonel's coat--which he put on to keep warm while the colonel was zooming around the countryside--the Germans think that he actually IS a colonel, and nothing Braddock can say or do will convince them otherwise.
Épisode 13 - Reunion

After the battalion pushes the Germans out of a small French town, Private Paul Villers, a member of Saunders' squad, asks permission to look for his father, a French doctor. Villers' was born in France but his parents divorced when he was four and his mother, an American, took him back to the US. He knows the town they're in is where his father was born and looks for him there. It doesn't take him long to find his father, but it takes him a bit longer to find out some things about his father that he wasn't counting on.
Épisode 14 - The Medal

D'Amato and Wharton, two close friends within the platoon, become separated from the rest of the men when the platoon comes under fire from a German tank and its machine gunner. D'Amato manages to flank the armor and capture the machine gun which he then uses against the supporting German infantry. D'Amato is wounded in the process and by the time the rest of the platoon reaches the position, Wharton has taken over the machine gun making Lt. Hanley think that it was he, Wharton, and not D'Amato, who singlehandedly captured the German armor.

Sgt. Saunders is taken prisoner by a German patrol, and is being transported with three other men (two Canadians and a French civilian) when they are freed by a group of Resistance fighters. The civilian turns out to be a Resistance operative as well, and with the unwitting help of a woman named Annette, who provides ration coupons, Saunders is able to buy gasoline to transport the three Allied soldiers to Paris. Annette initially resists providing further help when they reach Paris, but reluctantly agrees to take in Saunders for a few nights. It seems Annette has some secrets of her own ...
Épisode 16 - The Volunteer

A thirteen year old French boy wants to join the squad. After he is told he can't, the boy follows the squad. After Lt. Hanley is wounded, Caje tells him that he is now part of the group & his orders are to see that Lt. Hanley gets back to town. When they get back to town, they find that the Germans are setting up a trap for the Americans. Lt. Hanley send the boy to find Sgt. Saunders the men and to tell Sgt. Saunders about the Germans he can radio the information to HQ.
Épisode 17 - The Squad

Saunders' and Hanley's platoon is joined by a replacement soldier from Georgia named Moseby Lovelace, who comes complete with a new set of boots that the others in the squad, especially Saunders, highly covet. Lovelace is eager to see action, but not interested in the ordinary work of soldiering such as digging foxholes. He jumps at the chance to join a night reconnaissance patrol headed by Hanley that will check to see whether the Germans have pulled back their lines.

Ben Cooper plays Corporal Cross, the newest addition to the squad. For once, the new boy is a veteran, but he is tormented by a fatal mistake he'd made on another hill. That mistake has crippled him, stripping away not just his ability to fire a rifle, but also his ability to be a soldier.

Doc, Braddock and several wounded G.I.s take refuge in a French château owned by a wealthy aristocrat and his daughter. The father, concerned only with saving his estate, wants no part of them and orders them off the property. Unfortunately, a strong German patrol shows up intending to use the château as an artillery observation post. The G.I.s are taken prisoner. While the captured soldiers make plans to escape, the aristocrat sees a kindred spirit in the seemingly cultured German commander, but doesn't realize that the officer has designs on the château's treasures--including the aristocrat's daughter.

P.F.C. Marsh runs into his wife, Lt. Amelia Marsh, at a field hospital. He asks for a pass to spend time with her. While he is waiting for his pass Kirby goes AWOL and ends up at the hospital. Marsh has to go out on the mission in place of Kirby and is wounded.

Hanley and the men are taken prisoners. When the encampment comes under fire. The Germans get all but Saunders out. Hanley's men use the artillery barrage to make their escape. When they get far enough away Lt. Hanley does a head count. When they find out that Saunders is not with them the men want to go back to look for Saunders. Lt. Hanley won't let them. Saunders follows them with both his hand badly burnt by the fire that burned the ropes he was tied up with. When they raid a German camp looking for food, Kelly gets killed while he is putting on boots to replace those a German soldier took from him earlier. They get back to their lines with a delusional Saunders not far behind carrying a dead German thinking it is his brother.

Épisode 25 - The Quiet Warrior

Lt. Hanley is pulled off the line and sent to London, where he discovers that he is to be used in a secret mission to aid a French physicist to escape occupied France before the Gestapo gets ahold of him. Hanley and the man's son were friends in college and Hanley spent one summer in France at the family's home and is the only man the scientist will trust - especially since it has been discovered that someone in the French resistance is a double agent.

A young woman who cannot face the horrors of the war isolates herself in an idyllic garden which is unscathed by German bombs and refuses to leave. Saunders attempts to evacuate her before more Germans come.

Kirby is on trial and is accused of running from the enemy by Sgt. Midcaff. Kirby said there was a machine gun nest. After Kirby convinces Saunders he is telling the truth, Saunders and Caje must prove that Kirby is telling the truth about the machine gun nest.

The squad finds a baby in a barn. Its' mother has been killed. The men don't like it because Sarge won't let them bring the baby with them. Saunders gives in and sends Littlejohn and Doc back for the baby. After finding out that the convent was destroyed and with time running out, Caje goes to a bombed out and farmhouse dresses like a civilian so he can get the baby and himself across the river. The rest of the squad cross down river from the bridge. They all get back to their side just as the artillery barrage starts.

Saunders becomes one of "The Walking Wounded" and falls under the mercies of three broken souls more deeply wounded than he.

Caje must deal with killing a Frenchman. He does this by turning his attention to the dead man's daughter.The squad becomes worry about Caje. Sarge must find away to bring Caje back to reality before losing him. Saunders finds what he needs to bring Caje back when the town is attacked by the Germans.
Épisode 1 - The Bridge at Chalons

Lee Marvin guest stars as a sergeant in command of a small demolition team that Saunders and his squad is ordered to take behind German lines to destroy a bridge. Lee Marvin does not believe the squad is large enough to handle the job. He requests a platoon but is refused by Lieutenant Hanley. Marvin submits but has a huge chip on his shoulder due to having a close friend killed on a previous mission. He has no confidence in Saunders or his men to get the job done and frequently ridicules them during the mission.
Épisode 2 - Bridgehead

Hanley orders Saunders and his squad to take a bridge which is guarded by a heavily fortified house. Nick Adams guest stars as a self-centered wise-cracking private who only cares about saving his own skin. He reveals during the episode that he is a jazz drummer and is soon to be leaving the front to play in an army band entertaining troops and wants to be sure he keeps himself in one piece. In the end he sacrifices his life to complete the mission he ridiculed.

James Coburn guest stars as a ruthless German spy masquerading as an American G.I. in order to get into Battalion HQ to create havoc. When the jeep he is driving hits a land mine, Saunders and his squad bring him and two other German spies, one wounded, back to their Company HQ for first aid. Saunders slowly begins to suspect there is something wrong as Coburn's character makes slight mistakes while speaking and interacting with the other men.

They take the squad back to their base to be interrogated by their commander, an SS Captain played by Richard Basehart. Eddie Albert guest stars as an American WWI veteran living in France with his French wife he met while soldiering in the previous war. During the shelling from a Big German gun nearby he becomes confused and believes he is still fighting WWI.
Épisode 8 - Glow Against the Sky

Sgt. Saunders and his squad find themselves trapped in a French village as the Germans sweep through and capture the town. The squad seeks refuge in a cellar as the Germans search each building and cottage. With Nelson seriously wounded and in need of immediate help, he is delirious and screaming. Sgt. Saunders leaves him in the street in hopes the Germans will take care of him. A fanatical German Captain is bent on making Nelson reveal the whereabouts of the remainder of the squad, as Saunders must somehow free Nelson and escape with his men.

A wounded Lt. Hanley is pursued by a squad of Germans, and takes refuge in a French farmhouse at great peril to the mother and daughter living there.
Épisode 11 - Anatomy of a Patrol
26 novembre 1963
When a U.S. reconnaissance plane crashes, Sgt. Saunders' men race a German patrol to recover the pilot and his film. The Americans get there first, but carrying the wounded airman on a stretcher over heavily wooded hills slows them down. Then the Americans must cross a river to return to camp, while wily Nazi Sgt. Beckman counters Saunders' every trick.

When the squad arrives in a town, the French shoot a man for collaborating. His daughter blames the Americans who later learn he was actually an undercover allied agent. Regulars: Saunders, Hanley, Kirby, Caje, Billy Nelson, Littlejohn, Doc 2.
Épisode 13 - Barrage
10 décembre 1963
The Americans have been trying to take a German held hill for the last four days. Five different pilots have given five different locations for German artillery ... and they have hit them all and come up empty. Hanley's orders are to get up the hill, locate the artillery positions and report back. The squad is exhausted but marches upward. They separate and Saunders is wounded in the leg taking on a machine gun nest. Weak from his wound Saunders crawls along until he falls into an abandoned mine and discovers he is not alone.
Épisode 14 - Thunder from the Hill

Lt. Hanley and the squad are en route to meet a Capt. Boulange, the commander of the Free French Army in their sector. Their guide is a bear of a man named Massine, who has a small band of underground fighters traveling with him. Before Massine will lead Lt. Hanley to Capt. Boulange, he has an agenda of his own to accomplish. He forces Hanley to help him steal some explosives from the a German supply depot. Hanley doesn't want to do it, but has no choice.
Épisode 15 - The Party

This episode is strictly for laughs. The squad is left in a French village to wait for a ride to meet up with Saunders and Kirby is placed in charge. Three good looking gals smile at our guys as they pass by. Kirby, Caje, and Billy immediately want to come up with a plan to delay their ride so they can woo the three gals. Littlejohn wants no part in it and tells them, "It won't work." Three Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) sergeants already have dates with the gals, and our guys connive to beat the sergeants out of their dates.
Épisode 16 - Gideon's Army
31 décembre 1963
Saunders' squad happens upon a Nazi concentration camp occupied only by a few starving Poles. SS overseers killed most of the prisoners and then fled with the strongest inmates, but in their hurry to flee left behind these men, mostly from the same village. The squad has orders to move on, but few of the liberated are able to walk with them. The men's leader, their former mayor, begs Saunders to stay and help, while their former KAPO, also a Pole, wants out with the squad, before the furious prisoners kill him.
Épisode 17 - The Pillbox

While falling back under intense pressure from the attacking Germans, Lt. Hanley stops to help one of his men who is severely wounded. The Germans are advancing rapidly, so Hanley and his man take refuge in a vacant pillbox. As the rains begin to fall, Hanley attempts to head for his own lines, but is stopped when three German soldiers also enter the pillbox, making for a dramatic standoff. Hanley must make a decision to save his man and kill the Germans, or surrender himself.
Épisode 18 - The General and the Sergeant

John Dehner and Vic Morrow have the title roles, but they play two characters from two wars nearly thirty years apart. Upon liberation of a small French village by King Company, French General Armand Bouchard, a veteran of WWI, arrives in the street and wants to take command of Saunders' squad. While Bouchard apparently suffers from some form of dementia and is the object of ridicule by some of the villagers, he obviously has personal pride and character.
Épisode 19 - Eyes of the Hunter

A soldier is assigned to guide Sgt. Saunder's squad to a hidden German artillery site because he knows where it is located. Saunders is warned to keep a close watch on the soldier but he doesn't know the reason why.
Épisode 20 - The Hostages
28 janvier 1964
Saunders And Caje are held hostage by two Germans while Doc tries to find a vehicle to get them out of town. When they get out of town Doc learns the reason why the Germans wanted them. He tries to stop them by wrecking the ambulance. When he does, Caje suffers a broken leg, Saunders is wounded and the German in the back is killed. The surviving German wants Doc & Saunders leave the injured Caje behind. Doc gets a chance to jump him and in the fight Doc kills the German with his bare hands. Saunders brings Doc to reality by letting Doc know he is wounded.
Épisode 21 - Mail Call

Sgt. Saunders' squad blames his bad treatment of a likable new member, Trenton, on his foul mood which they believe was caused by a letter he has just received. Actually Saunders believes Trenton is a coward who fake injuries to avoid battle.
Épisode 22 - Counter-Punch
11 février 1964
Chaos ensues as the Germans make a breakthrough. All rear-echelon troops are ordered to get their weapons. Never able to form up into any sort of fighting force, they become stragglers separated from any cohesive unit. Saunders and Caje are also separated from their unit and they pick up several of the rear-echelon stragglers as they discover they are all now many miles deep in German territory. While the rear-echelon guys have no combat experience, they each contribute in their own way in the effort to get back to their own forces.

Sgt. Saunders must deliver radios to the French underground. A radio-expert named Sgt. Perkins goes with him. It's Perkin's first combat mission, and he is very anxious and displeased.
Épisode 24 - The Hunter
25 février 1964
Saunders and Kirby are searching the buildings of an abandoned French winery when they are spotted by two Germans who are using the tower for an observation post. A firefight ensues, and one of the Germans and Kirby are both badly wounded. The German officer, Heismann, snatches Kirby and takes him into the tower building. The wounded German attacks Saunders with a knife, but Saunders finishes him. Saunders has seen the Germans are setting up a large artillery position nearby, and Heismann uses the wounded Kirby to try to convince Saunders to surrender before he can report the artillery location to his HQ.

In this first part of a two episode story, Saunders and his men have to get the retreat message to a British troupe behind enemy lines. The British Captain uses his authority to keep Saunders and his men to help him fight the Germans
Épisode 26 - What Are the Bugles Blowin' For? (2)
10 mars 1964
In the conclusion to a two episode story, a British captain refuses Allied orders to retreat delivered by Sgt. Saunders. Captain Johns instead commands Sgt. Saunders' battle-fatigued U.S. squad to dig in at the besieged rail-head and help repulse a German advance. Saunders fears it is suicide for all however the imperial Captain Johns, a Sandowner and son of a general, insists they can hold the depot against the Nazi offensive.

Épisode 28 - The Short Day of Private Putnam
24 mars 1964
Private Putnam (Putt) is a 15 year old run away. He lies to cover up his age and the fact that he is a green recruit. A friend tells Hanley he is only 15. When he panics he nearly gets the Sarge and himself killed. At the end, his hobby saves the day.
Épisode 29 - Rescue
31 mars 1964
This episode is all Lt. Hanley and a bunch of twists along the way. Concussed during an artillery barrage and separated from his platoon, Hanley starts to come out of his daze only to find he is being taken prisoner by an SS soldier. The first twist is when the SS soldier is shot by another SS soldier who frees Hanley. Then we learn the second SS soldier is really a G.I. corporal who just escaped from a holding area but his wounded Colonel is still being held by the Germans and has information valuable to the Germans.
Épisode 30 - Command

A wounded Hanley is replaced in the field by Lieutenant Douglas ('Joseph Campanella'), who proves to be surly and opinionated even by Saunders' standards.
Épisode 31 - Infant of Prague

Lt. Hanley and his men run into 4 Nuns looking for the Americans to get help for their Mother Superior. The men must try and get the Nuns and themselves out of the town before the Germans get to the town. The old Nun goes after a statue sending Lt. Hanley and Caje back into the town full of Germans and right to the Germans HQ.
Épisode 32 - The Glory Among Men

When the one person in the squad that is disliked by most of the men is wounded, the Germans use him as bait to try and get the men to come after him. Orders come in to leave him if it is not possible to retrieve him. One of the squad doesn't want to leave Mason behind so the squad then tries to save Mason.

In this two episode story Hanley and his men have to try to take out two bunkers. Hanley finds this almost hopeless with Saunders wounded. Saunders is only able to give morale support to Haley. Everything looks bleak for the men of King Company when they get a tank. They lose the tank, but in the end Caje and Kirby with cover from the tank take out the last bunker.

In his first battle, Private Corey freezes. Afterwards, the squad commends him for his actions, believing he destroyed a machine gun nest.

Saunders has to return to H.Q. for a meeting and leaves Kirby in charge. At first being left in charge starts going to his head, After Caje is wounded and the phone lines are cut, things change fast. At first Kirby starts thinking what would Sarge do! With a little encouragement from Doc, he stops thinking about what would Sarge do and, instead, what should he do to get out of this?

This is Combat's version of The Dirty Dozen. Saunders & Littlejohn arrives in a town to pick up 6 men. They find that everyone is leaving or has left. They find 4 prisoners locked in a cell. Saunders decides to use these men to finish the mission he & Littlejohn were sent to do.

Ollie Joe's Lt. dies before he can Worn Saunders about Ollie. Saunders realize that something not right with Ollie. When he pulls his gun on Sarge & calls him Lt. Saunders put 2&2 together & comes up what was wrong. With Ollie dying Saunders tell him that he was GI perfect
Épisode 4 - The Brothers

Hanley & his men join up with 2 members of the underground. 2 brothers, the elder-the head of the underground in the area, the youngest-who follows his brother, but! really don't have what it takes to be part of the underground. The elder refuses to see his younger brother is not cut out for the kind of life they live. When he realize that his brother not cut out for this life it to late.
Épisode 5 - The Chapel at Able-Five

Saunders is blinded and a companion killed by a land mine explosion as they attempt to get vital information back to their lines. The blinded Saunders is rescued by a German chaplain who pretends to be English to get Saunder's help in carrying a wounded German captain to safety.

The squad must find a way to get a squad of teens to surrender. With time running out Saunders lets their leader go back in to talk them out.

A replacement arrives that reminds Saunders of his kid brother, who he just found out has dropped out of high school and enlisted.

Saunders is saddled with 18 German prisoners with only four men to guard them. Transporting them by foot, he encounters unexpected hazards and complications from a mysterious prisoner, Corporal Wiltz, who had allowed himself to be captured.

Pvt. Harris is sent to go out with the squad as a demolition man.The asignment is to blow up a radio station. On the way Doc finds out that Harris is a Doc. After the second asignment Harris must make a decision if he want to be a Doc. or run away from what he is.

The squad don't take to the new man Cully a Hillbilly from Virginia. Littlejohn befriends Cully and tries to get the others to give Cully a chance. When the Germans are spotted heading for the town Littlejohn goes looking for Cully, who has gone back to look for his money. Cully gets back to the OP (unaware of the Germans) wanting to know if anyone seen his money. Leaving Littlejohn to face the enemy alone.

Exhaustion and lack of sleep cause a breakdown of morale in Saunder's squad. After two days of continuous patrol in bad weather, Caje and Littlejohn are at each others throats.

When Private Vincent is killed shortly before he is to go on a week's furlough, Saunders travels to England to deliver his bequest to Ann Tinsley, the director of an orphanage. During his time in London, he gets to know the children, and sees how they have suffered during the war. In addition, he becomes friendly with Ann, and an attraction begins to develop between them.

Capt. Cole (James Daily) is Reunited with his son Jack (James MacArthur).The Capt. hadn't seen his son in years. Jack now a reporter, sent to the front to cover the war. The squard assignment is to help the Capt. find the best place to build a pluntune bridge. While encountering the Germans at a farmhouse. Jack & his Father (Capt. Cole) are able to mind their fences. Jack get his story. A father & son find each other again.

Captured by Germans, Saunders is placed aboard a prison train bound for Germany. He escapes and is saddled with Sgt. Decker, who would have been content to sit out the war in a POW camp.

o one can tell friend from foe as Germans infiltrate dressed as Allied solders. Kirby separated from the squad interrogates Driskoll an American GI who thinks Kirby is a German.
Épisode 22 - A Little Jazz

A USO jaz troupe, led by an arrogant Bernie Wallace, causes Saunders trouble. Saunders rescues them from a German attack and their gratitude is underwhelming.
Épisode 23 - Nightmare on the Red Ball Run

Kirby & Littlejohn agrees to help Rosie drive his trucks. After they agree to help, they find out that the trucks are carrying ammo. They must get the trucks to the front, where they are almost out of ammunition. While trying to get there they run into many delays including the enemy.
