Sylvia, une citoyenne distinguée, mère de deux adolescents, fuit l'échec de son mariage. Elle s'installe par la force des choses dans le bordel qu'elle a hérité de son père, Chaussée d'Amour. Par nécessité financière, elle décide de prendre la tête du bordel en question. L'ex-mère de famille de luxe entre ainsi en contact avec des putains, des maquereaux et d'autres personnages hauts en couleur qui s'affairent tout autant à remettre leur vie sur les rails qu'à la gâcher. Il y a aussi Ludo, un agent de police judiciaire toujours à l'affût de preuves, qui rouvre l'enquête relative à un meurtre qui s'est produit sur la chaussée vingt ans plus tôt. Les chemins de Ludo et Sylvia vont se croiser et Ludo verra sa détermination brutalement confrontée à l'instinct de survie de Sylvia.
