Filippa and Kaare in the local police are put on the case, but the sick veteran police officer, Irja, insists on interfering in the investigation. What is she looking for? And who is the girl who is seen wandering through the forest on the outskirts of the village?

Filippa is pushed to the sidelines in Kaare's investigation, but begins to investigate tips in the case on her own. Could there be something in what the villager says, and is it related to the young girl fleeing alone through the forest? What is she escaping from?

When the young girl ends up ashamed in the emergency room, Filippa becomes curious. Who is she and is there a link between her and the late Dr. Meyer? Filippa reveals aspects of the respected district doctor that puts the murder case in a whole new light.

The police's main suspect, the young girl Mira Hildonen, is on the run from the police, when a new double murder shakes the village. Kripos takes over the case, and pushes Kaare and Filippa out on the sidelines. Irja is getting worse and worse, and withdraws from the case.
