Ran, une femme samouraï, voyage au grès du vent et de l'odeur du saké en compagnie de Myao, une fille un peu simplette, de l'école Neko Teken spécialisée en arts martiaux. L'histoire raconte les péripéties des ses deux compères de fortune et parfois d'infortune dans un Japon médiéval. Sans réelle trame de fond, si ce n'est celle de subvenir à ses besoins notamment en terme de saké. Deux personnages, aux caractères opposés, forment le couple détonnant de cette série, suite d'aventures indépendantes, à l'esprit « Road movie ».
