The third Captain Tsubasa series is about qualifying for the 2002 World Cup in Japan. Tsubasa as the main character takes a back seat for the first time. The focus is now on a young Japanese bloke who is trying to find fame in Italy's Serie A and be able to play in the youth national team. The series ends, of course, after qualifying to pave the way for another season.
