En 1941, Steve Rogers est le sujet d'essai d'une opération top secret : La Renaissance. L'expérience est un succès complet, la physionomie de Steve Rogers soudainement augmenté au maximum du potentiel humain. Malheureusement, lors de ce triomphe, le scientifique principal de l'expérience a été immédiatement assassiné par un espion nazi et la formule a été irrémédiablement perdue. Le gouvernement américain, conscient que la guerre avec l'Allemagne nazie était imminente, a décidé de tirer le meilleur parti de ses ressources en nommant Rogers comme symbole de propagande/agent du gouvernement, Captain America. Armé seulement d'un bouclier indestructible, nous suivons ses aventures dans la Seconde Guerre mondiale avec son acolyte, Bucky. En outre, nous suivons ses autres aventures après qu'il réapparaisse à l'époque contemporaine hors de l'animation suspendue pour faire face à toutes les menaces qui pèsent sur l'Amérique et ses idéaux.
