Brian and Roger meet up at the house in which Roger grew up, in Shepherd's Bush. At The Who‘s original rehearsal space, they discuss how the rock tour as we know it today was essentially invented - aggression, machismo, onstage danger, high decibel levels, and smashing equipment. The Who also set the bar very high for drug consumption, groupie acquisition and hotel room destruction. They discuss the seminal album "Tommy" and subsequent tour, and how that transformed the band into superstars.

Brian Johnson rend visite à Lars Ulrich au siège social de Metallica à San Rafael, en Californie, la base du groupe. Lars fait visiter les installations à Brian, avant que débute leur entretien dans la principale salle de répétitions. Tous deux réfléchissent à la façon dont Metallica est passé de 200 fans à la Stone de San Francisco en 1982, à 1,5 million de fans à Tushino Airfield à Moscou en 1991, dans le cadre de la tournée "Wherever We May Roam". A la fin de cette tournée légendaire, Metallica avait acquis la réputation d'être l'un des groupes de metal les plus importants et les plus durs au monde. Brian et Lars partagent leurs souvenirs de vieux combattants sur la ligne de front du rock and roll. Comment gérer la gloire ? Car collector Brian visits car collector Nick at his Cotswold estate for a week look at the rides, and then they talk about Pink Floyd‘s early days, when they were faced with performing huge shows without a whole lot of live experience. Later, it's back to the car collection and the ride which made it possible for the band to tour after Roger Waters‘ exit: the 1962 Ferrari 250GTO which Nick bought in 1977 for £35,000 — now worth an estimated £40 million. Nick put it up for collateral to finance the 1987-1989 A Momentary Lapse Of Reason tour; Roger was having disagreements with the rest of the band over the use of the Pink Floyd name, and nobody would underwrite the tour — so the Ferrari came to the rescue, and the tour went smashingly. The band did more than 200 shows for 4.25 million fans over 18 months, with ticket sales reaching £60 million. Brian and Nick discuss the tour details and how it made Pink Floyd one of the highest grossing live acts of the 80s.

Brian Johnson se rend à New York pour rencontrer son vieil ami et complice de toujours, Sting. Les deux hommes partent en balade au centre ville à bord d'une camionnette, la même que celle que le groupe The Police conduisait lors de sa première tournée aux USA. Les deux compères roulent jusqu'au légendaire CBGB, club où The Police a joué son premier concert. Les souvenirs remontent à la surface. Sting se remémore les petites salles où il avait l'habitude de jouer, et qui correspondent à une époque bénie, alors que les grands stades où il a joué par la suite se mélangent dans sa tête. Ils partent ensuite manger un bout au Phebe, où Sting avait l'habitude de boire son café pour réfléchir à sa nouvelle vie et à la perspective de conquérir l'Amérique. le débarquement dans les stades; la rupture; les raisons de la reformation du groupe pour une dernière tournée en 2007; les habitudes et les rituels de Sting avant et après les spectacles; la vie d'un Englishman in New York...
Épisode 5 - Joe Elliott

Brian's off to Dublin to have a beakfast with his old chum Joe Elliott; they get together in the Temple Bar District and Joe escorts Brian down the pub, The Porterhouse (his favorite). We hear about Def Leppard‘s backstory and the ascent of a bunch of lads from Sheffield who were huge fans of T. Rex, Mott The Hoople, Thin Lizzy and Queen, and helped lead the New Wave Of British Metal. There's rich history here — some of it tragic, such as what befell Rick Allen — and talk of the Pyromania and Hysteria tours. Were they actually smuggled into their in-the-round shows in laundry baskets (including once by Robert Plant)? Of course they were, and other hijinks included opening for themselves in disguise, as U2 have done from time to time. Wrapping up, Joe discusses aspects of his career following the band's years at the top of the charts.

Le leader d'AC/DC s'est rendu au Pays de Galles à la rencontre de Robert Plant, à l'endroit même où ce dernier avait déménagé après la sortie de "Led Zeppelin II". "On louait le cottage où je me rendais quand j'étais enfant. Il n'est pas très loin d'ici, on a commencé la composition de "Led Zeppelin III" là. C'était génial, car on était loin du chaos des tournées. Tu sais ce que c'est." Dans un autre extrait, Plant se souvient des groupes qui ont inspiré Led Zeppelin : "Je pense que toute cette vague avec Cream, The Grateful Dead - le blues blanc - émergeait à l'époque... et on avait également celle de la Côte Ouest, avec Jefferson Airplane", explique-t-il. "Toute cette sous-culture se développait, et on s'est, en quelque sorte, rattachés à cela. On n'avait pas de message social à faire passer. On n'était pas vraiment des visionnaires, dans ce domaine, mais nous étions jeunes à l'époque, et nous faisions partie de ce grand mouvement d'énergie."
