Lors de la cérémonie d'entrée au lycée, Aihara Kotoko, une élève pas très brillante rencontre pour la première fois Irie Naoki, un génie au QI de 200 : c'est le coup de foudre. Après avoir longtemps gardé ses sentiments pour elle, Kotoko prend son courage à deux mains et lui écrit une lettre. Elle la tend à Naoki au lycée, mais ce dernier la refuse froidement en lui confiant qu'il n'aime pas les filles stupides. Celle-ci n'étant pas du genre à se décourager, essaie de surmonter cette humiliation publique avec l'aide de ses amis. Un jour, sa maison se retrouve soudainement détruite par une météorite, laissant Kotoko et son père démunis. Mais l'ami de ce dernier les invite chaleureusement à partager son toit. Qui aurait pu se douter que le meilleur ami du père de Kotoko se trouvait aussi être le père de Naoki ? Dès lors, Kotoko et Naoki devront apprendre à vivre ensemble et s'adapter à cette nouvelle situation. Ce drama est la deuxième adaptation japonaise du manga « Itazura na Kiss » de Kaoru Tada.
