Translated from the Hebrew “Avoda Aravit” which colloquially implies “shoddy or second-rate work”, focuses on Amjad, an Israeli Arab journalist in search of his identity as he seeks high status in the society into which he was born but where his car is searched everyday when he drives from his neighborhood to his job at a newspaper in Jerusalem.

Épisode 1 - The Car

Amjad looks to replace his "Arab" Subaru with a proper Israeli one.

Épisode 2 - The Sheep

Amjad's editor is looking for a "sexy" piece for the magazine, and Amjad has just the story - a special sheep that obeys soldiers' commands. Making up an interview with the uncooperative sheep, Amjad finds himself in a bind when the story becomes a hot item.

Épisode 3 - Kindergarten

Amjad decides it's time for his parents to stop babysitting his daughter and for her to go to kindergarten. But both the local Islamic kindergarten and the kosher Jewish one are fraught with pitfalls.

Épisode 4 - Kidnapping

After Amjad and Meir interview Arab Miss Israel, Amjad heads home leaving Meir to take pictures. Riding back alone, Meir believes he is being kidnapped by his Arab taxi driver. Amjad and his father come to the rescue.

Épisode 5 - Passover

In the week of Passover, Meir meets lovely attorney Amal and invites her to join him in a private Passover Seder. Meanwhile, Amjad's family is invited to celebrate with Jewish friends, and Amjad sees an opportunity to adapt Jewish rituals to his own.

Épisode 6 - Reserve Duty

Amjad is asked to help supply information to the security forces. His mother-in-law, who just moved in with them and, as always, manages to annoy Amjad, will be his way of giving the security service what it wants.

Épisode 7 - Loyalty

Amjad interviews the leader of a new political party that advocates a repartitioning of Israel between Jews and Arabs. Not sure which side he wants to be on in this new partitioning, Amjad goes to a psychologist to find resolution.

Épisode 8 - Crime on the Border

Bushra honks at a BMW that is blocking them in, and Amjad is afraid that he is about to get into it with a local criminal. Meanwhile, Meir is jealous of a Palestinian student who is courting Amal.

Épisode 9 - Meeting the Parents

Amal wants to meet Meir's parents, so Meir hires substitute, tolerant parents to fill in. Meanwhile, Amjad invites Bushra out to a fancy restaurant frequented by Jerusalem's elite, and ends up in a mess with his neighbor, the dishwasher at the restaurant.

Épisode 10 - Independence Day

When a millionaire declares that he will award a million Israeli shekels to the first baby born on Israel's Independence Day, Bushra and Amjad compete with another couple in the delivery room.

Épisode 1 - The Shower

Amjad, shocked by the superior quality of the shower at his Jewish friend Meir's house, storms city hall demanding "equal water pressure" for Jews and Arabs.

Épisode 2 - Moving

The Alian family members move into a new apartment in a Jewish neighborhood. But when Amjad goes out of his way to carefully plan the move and impress his new neighbors, everything goes terribly wrong.

Épisode 3 - Dog

The neighbor's dog in Amjad's building barks endlessly every time he leaves or enters the building. Amjad is deeply offended when he hears that dogs can recognize Arabs and bark only at them.

Épisode 4 - Nightgown

It's been a month since Bushra has let Amjad near her and it's driving him mad! She's too busy and has no sexual desire or strength for Amjad at night. To keep him away, she uses an exceptionally hideous nightgown that Um Amjad bought her.

Épisode 5 - Building Committee

Embarrassed to leave the house for being the gardener's son, Amjad understands that the only way to fire his father is for him to become head of his building's committee. Amjad sets out on an especially weird campaign to get elected.

Épisode 6 - Purim

At a Purim party dressed up as a soldier Amjad is kidnapped by two Palestinians while outside having a smoke. The kidnappers are embarrassed to discover they kidnapped an Arab dressed up as a soldier, but no one wants Amjad back.

Épisode 7 - Music

In this episode of Arab Labor, the Alian family members are invited to a concert where the neighbor's son will perform. Amjad is filled with envy because his daughter Maya isn't musically inclined, so he forces her to play the violin.

Épisode 8 - Memorial Day

Memorial Day and Independence Day arrive. Amjad is torn between two cultures when he thinks he will be lighting a protest torch in front of the prime minister's house, but finds himself committing to light a torch for Independence Day at Mt Herzl.

Épisode 9 - Civil Guard

Amjad joins the civil guard in order to protect the neighborhood from a series of break-ins, but turns into the neighborhood menace when he behaves like a sheriff in the Wild West.

Épisode 10 - Amjad Suspects

Bushra has been busy at her clinic in the village and returns home very late. Amjad becomes mad with jealousy when he discovers one of her patients is a bully from his childhood who's grown up to be rich and charming.

Épisode 11 - Tension in the South

A war breaks in the south ruining the idyll Amjad has finally reached with his neighbors. In an attempt to mediate the situation, he appears as a TV show guest after which he finds himself giving home to a family of war refugees from Sderot.

Épisode 12 - Swimming

Amjad declares his inability to swim to his neighbors who convince him to take lessons, during which Amjad accidentally causes his instructor to drown and is accused of attempted manslaughter for racist reasons.

Épisode 13 - Amjad Superstar

Amjad receives an offer from a TV network to host a new TV show in Arabic. He's always dreamt of appearing on TV, and, convinced he'll be the first Arab in prime-time, he discovers he has to host the show dressed as a bunny.

Épisode 1 - Reality

Amjad goes on the show "Big Brother" to prove that Arabs and Jews can live together under the same roof -- and that Arabs aren't the reason why rent prices in his building have dropped.

Épisode 2 - Bladder

Amjad became a big star after being in the "Big Brother" house. He gets job offers from the biggest media companies in the country and he's represented by a leading agent. On the way back form a dinner party, in which he drank one beer too many, he's forced to stop at the side of the road to pee. Amjad turns from a beloved star to enemy of state when he's caught peeing on a national monument.

Épisode 3 - Worms

Amjad is invited to lecture at the Confederation House and dreams of a new career as a popular lecturer. However, he gets stomach worms a day before his lecture and his life becomes a nightmare.

Épisode 4 - Foreign Correspondent

Yoske and Yocheved are tired of the endless attempts to sell their house in order to move closer to their grandchildren so they are forced to welcome an ultra-orthodox family who are interested in the apartment. The neighbors are horrified at the idea of their building turning religious and Amjad takes the blame.

Épisode 5 - Family Honor

The enlightened Amjad is invited to lecture on International Women's Day about his feminist outlook, which despises old values like family honor. He finds out at the same time that his little girl Maya is falling in love with Nadav, his Jewish neighbors Nathan and Timna's son. Amjad goes out of his way to stop the horror occurring under his own roof.

Épisode 6 - The Ultra-Orthodox Homecoming

A BBC crew travels to Israel for a story about Amjad and follows him and his everyday experience as a Palestinian in Israel. Amjad dreams of an international career to follow the BBC story. He tells the foreign reporters about the brotherhood and peaceful coexistence between him and his Jewish neighbors, only to find out that this isn't what they're looking for. They demand to see racism in the hopes of exposing the difficulty of being a minority in Israeli society. Amjad goes out of his way to look for racism and can't find it anywhere but in a cookie store.

Épisode 7 - Vegetarian Arab

Following his neighbor Timna's remark that there are no vegetarian Arabs, Amjad decides to become the first vegetarian Arab and turns into a symbol of struggle for animal rights. At the same time Abu-Amjad opens a meat restaurant in the middle of his now-vegetarian son's neighborhood.

Épisode 8 - Talking Loud

Amjad decides to have a special birthday party for his father. He invites guests and musicians and doesn't spare efforts to make it the best birthday ever, until he hears his neighbors saying that "Arabs make a lot of noise." Amjad is convinced they're right and so he tries to find a solution to his father's upcoming "noisy" birthday that's supposed to take place in his house.

Épisode 9 - An Arab Journalist

Amjad's world is about to crumble when a new rising star, an Arabic reporter/writer, catches the attention of the Israeli media. Bashie Siliman is sharp and suave, the exact opposite of Amjad. Bashir leaves the scared Amjad alone and out of work until he decides to fight and reclaim his place in the Israeli media.

Épisode 10 - The Shelter

In the season three finale, an alert wakes the whole building, sending everyone down to the basement shelter. Amjad and his family find themselves on the defensive with their Jewish neighbors who eye them as a suspicious minority in the midst of the apparent war that's taking place outside.

Épisode 1 - Episode 1

The season premiere finds Amjad unemployed and Bushra pregnant. Meanwhile, Meir's mother offers him rent money on the condition that his Muslim wife Amal converts to Judaism. In the end, Amjad and Meir inadvertently spark a protest movement.

Épisode 2 - Episode 2

Amjad uses his newfound status as an activist to become a media consultant, while Meir gets mistaken for a Zionist settler when stepping foot on occupied territory. Meanwhile, Bushra discovers a problem with her pregnancy and consequently has to rest under medical supervision.

Épisode 3 - Episode 3

Amjad is on his own at home after Bushra is admitted to the hospital. He has problems with his cleaning lady, but a new maid has a problem with him: she's afraid of Arabs.

Épisode 4 - Episode 4

Amjad is asked to create a campaign for a government agency with the purpose of promoting the employment of Arab academics. Meanwhile, Amjad grows insanely jealous when an Arab gynecologist starts treating Bushra in the hospital.

Épisode 5 - Episode 5

Amjad, his father, and neighbor Nathan buy a lottery ticket together on a hunch, since Amjad's luck has started to turn. Each person is later convinced that they won, but that the two others lied and stole the prize money.

Épisode 6 - Episode 6

After having a nice picnic in the Jerusalem forest, Amjad finds out that he might have accidentally started a fire in the exact same spot. Meanwhile, Meir has to face the rowdy activists who want to avenge the burning of the forest.

Épisode 7 - Episode 7

Amjad joins a gym whose members mistakenly believe he belongs to an elite army unit that also trains there.

Épisode 8 - Episode 8

Amjad hires a woman to prepare a new room for his soon-to-be-born baby and is blamed when she disappears.

Épisode 9 - Episode 9

Maya complicates Amjad's life when her mother is in the hospital. Amjad opens a Facebook account, which leads him to have a virtual affair with another woman.

Épisode 10 - Episode 10

In the season four finale, there are complications during the birth of the twins. Amid these troubles, a new neighbor does everything he can to make Amjad leave. Amjad decides to wage war on the entire building.
