Épisode 16 - Episode 16

7 décembre 2020 - 2/5

It’s a brand new trip and there’s a brand new expert. The newbie is London-based porcelain dealer Serhat Ahmet, who joins a doyenne of the road trip, Christina Trevanion, for a jaunt around the antiques emporia of Wales and the Midlands. They kick off in north Wales in their rather glamorous Porsche Speedster. It’s all uncharted territory for Serhat as he gets his hands on a conveyance for dollies and one piece of pottery that has Christina a little jealous. But she manages a scoop of her own, picking up a last-minute purchase that might be a lot older and a lot more valuable than it first appears. On their travels, Serhat takes a trip to a particularly famous village that brings a touch of the Italian Riviera to the west coast of Wales, while Christina heads to the Isle of Anglesey to discover how an ancient method of making a commonplace culinary ingredient has made a comeback on the coast. Then it’s off to auction in Bolton to find out if Serhat’s nerves can handle the excitement.

8 décembre 2020 - 4/5

We’re on the road again with antiques aficionados Christina Trevanion and Serhat Ahmet, for a wander round the West Midlands and the Black Country. And there’s a new addition to the Road Trip convoy - a very robust Series One Land Rover. Not as nippy as the Porsche Speedster but better over the bumps. Both experts decide to play to their strengths this time out. Porcelain dealer Serhat gets his paws on a lot of ceramics while Christina goes a bundle on one of her favourites: jewellery. Along the way there are some spooky portraits, the obligatory top hat try-on, not to mention a spot of off-roading. Taking a break from shopping, Christina heads to a very fine garden to discover the fascinating history of how the Tudors kept themselves clean. Serhat takes a canal journey that leads him back to the Industrial Revolution and deep underground to find out about the practice of 'legging'. Then it’s off to the auction for their purchases to see if Serhat can hold on to his lead or if Christina will put the new recruit back in his place.

Épisode 18 - Episode 18

9 décembre 2020 - 4/5

We’re at the halfway point of our antiques odyssey with experts Serhat Ahmet and Christina Trevanion. They’re travelling north to south down the backbone of England, from Sheffield to Coventry, one by Land Rover and one by Speedster. This time out, our pair decide to push their boundaries. Porcelain dealer Serhat turns his back on his usual pots and goes in search of shinier things. Jewellery aficionado Christina tries to steer clear of sparkly items and almost succeeds. However, she does manage to get her hands on one very large and very brown item. There’s also dangerous furniture, the obligatory antiques shop dog and a spot of ventriloquism. In between the shopping, Christina meets two of the fastest men alive and comes face to face with their incredible high-speed vehicles, while Serhat heads off to discover a designer you have probably never heard of but who single-handedly changed the look of the British street. As all of their goodies head off to auction, there are a few close calls for one of our experts, and something worse for the other.

Épisode 19 - Episode 19

10 décembre 2020 - 4/5

We’re out in the fresh air once again with country girl Christina Trevanion and city boy Serhat Ahmet. Bristol and Gloucestershire are their stomping grounds this time out, and while the country roads offer no challenges for Christina’s Land Rover, it’s a different story for Serhat’s Porsche. On this leg of the trip there is plenty of foraging, and not just in the shops. Serhat goes gaga for glass and hankers after various bits of Arts and Crafts metalware. Christina gets an offer she can’t refuse as one shopkeeper gives her a very good but very threatening deal. She also causes chaos trying to get her hands on possibly the largest item ever on the Antiques Road Trip. Serhat’s glass obsession continues as he visits the home of the iconic Bristol Blue glassware, where he gets to try his hand at a spot of glass blowing, with mixed results. Meanwhile, Christina heads to the farm to get down and dirty with some of Gloucestershire’s most famous but endangered porcine inhabitants. As the auction draws near, can Christina hold on to her lead, or will Serhat pull it back from the edge?

Épisode 20 - Episode 20

11 décembre 2020 - 5/5

It’s the last outing for our travelling twosome, Serhat Ahmet and Christina Trevanion, on a whistle-stop tour around south Wales. They battle each other and the elements as 'Storm Christina' hits, so it’s roof-up time in the Porsche and, as Serhat takes to two wheels, time to pop on a poncho. There’s a mad dash around the shops for our two as Serhat tries to eke out his tiny budget, while Christina struggles to blow all of her money. They look at baths, buckets and big sticks to try to turn a profit at the auction. And there’s still time for them to brush up on their circus skills. Serhat follows in the footsteps of two brothers who discovered a whole underground world beneath their farmland, and a trip to a spa doesn’t turn out quite as expected for Christina, as she takes the plunge into a rather weird and wacky sport. And then it’s time for their final battle, to see who will be covered in glory at the auction.

By stark contrast, frugal Tim rummages in the bargain boxes and comes away from one shop having spent but £1 – was it a wisest buy of this trip? While Irita pops her cork for a champagne bottle that turns into a pipe, Tim takes a fancy to an anatomical model. If only he didn’t keep dropping its lungs. 1 juin 2021

Auctioneer Natasha Raskin Sharp and ceramics expert Steven Moore are on a whistle-stop tour of Tyne and Wear before wandering north to Northumberland. Natasha wastes little time in the antiques shops, gambling her kitty like an 18th-century taverngoer buying some George III period gaming tokens. She ditches the 1960s Rolls Royce and sets off on a very unlikely safari to catch sight of an ancient creature that still roams the Northumberland plains. Elsewhere, Steven moves at a more leisurely pace and indulges in some dressing up. He delights at a discovery of a 200-year-old sugar dish and buys a 1930s cuddly elephant. Steven even finds time for afternoon tea in an unassuming Alnwick hotel with a dining room that has the spectacular opulence of an Edwardian ocean liner and shares a close connection to RMS Titanic. With the antiques shipped to a Dundee auction, our experts are on tenterhooks as the bids roll in.

2 juin 2021

Antiques experts Natasha Raskin Sharp and Steven Moore point their 1960s Rolls Royce north and to the Scottish Borders before heading on to Edinburgh for another auction. Natasha wastes little time when shopping, enchanted by a tobacco barrel manufactured by a quality maker. She also decides to buy a travel case, but only after she discovers the velvet-lined secret compartment it hides within. Away from the shops, Natasha visits an area renowned for its luxurious knitwear and the heritage of a once-booming local industry. Meanwhile, Steven may be in Scotland but his discoveries include a rare 18th-century teapot from Liverpool and an Italian glass vase. He also finds time to take in the sights at a site of international importance, where the Roman Empire found home in Scotland. Steven flushes out a bargain while visiting the loo in one antiques shop, finding some 18th-century tea bowls hidden away by the toilet. 3 juin 2021

With a swirl of tartan and a burst of the bagpipes, our Scottish tour continues in Fife with antiques experts Natasha Raskin Sharp and Steven Moore. The 1960s Rolls Royce glides the pair through countryside and town as they head from the east coast to central Scotland. Natasha’s money reserves are dwindling, so she cautiously settles on a bargain piece of Scottish studio pottery. However, a canny buy of an arts and crafts-style lantern pays dividends at the auction in Hamilton. Natasha also finds the time to visit Kirkcaldy and hears the little-known story of how this Scottish town became a Victorian global powerhouse in, of all things, flooring manufacture. Steven receives the red carpet treatment as he steps on board the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith to learn the centuries-old customs of royal yachts. With almost £400 burning a hole in his pocket, Steven seeks out quality antiques, picking up silver teaspoons and spirit flasks. He also finds an intriguing item called a hate belt. Will the bidders love it?

4 juin 2021

It’s the final installment of Natasha Raskin Sharp and Steven Moore’s Road Trip around Scotland. Natasha splashes out a three-figure sum on a single piece of silver. She also picks up buttons with a suffragist connection and a very charming brass tortoise. Shopping done, a hungry Natasha visits Cupar to find out why haggis has became a global delicacy synonymous with Scotland. To Steven’s great joy, his first shop is a ceramics expert's dream. Amongst the china, he discovers a quite rare porcelain spirit flask. He too goes for broke, spending £140 on a Canton garden seat, though the damage and repairs may discourage bidders. It’s a gamble. Later, Steven detours to Dundee docks to step aboard one of the oldest and best preserved wooden warships in the world. With just a few pounds separating Steven and Natasha, the auction makes for an exciting climax to this trip. Steven flushes out a bargain while visiting the loo in one antiques shop, finding some 18th-century tea bowls hidden away by the toilet. A break from shopping sees Steven set sail to South Shields and learn about the incredible restoration of a quite remarkable lifeboat. 7 juin 2021

It’s the start of a brand new antiquing adventure in the company of the bubbly Izzie Balmer and not so-bubbly Philip Serrell, taking the south east of England by storm, starting in Kent. Our chalk-and-cheese pair each have a £200 starting budget and a rather nippy sports car to get them to the shops. Once they hit the emporia, Phil finds a novel use for a set of stepladders as he scoops up a few 'old school' antiques, one of which may not be quite what it first seems. Izzie leans toward her favourite small pretty things, but has a last-minute panic when she arrives at one destination to find the shops are shutting. They also indulge in some rocking horse riding, cat whispering and disagreements about scarf wearing. On their travels, Izzie stops off at Tunbridge Wells for a spot of sightseeing and to find out how the town went from being a playground for royalty to one of the earliest examples of suburban living. Meanwhile, Phil heads to the Essex coast to meet the fishermen who are teaming up with scientists to revive the stocks of a very fancy seafood delicacy. Then it’s on to the auction in Battle, East Sussex, to discover if all of their hard work will reap big rewards.

Épisode 22 - Episode 22

8 juin 2021

On the road in Essex, it’s the continuing tale of two auctioneers - youthful and exuberant Izzie Balmer and young-at-heart Philip Serrell. They clock up the miles as they pass through five counties in their old motor. They’re best of pals, but occasionally the generation gap does start to show a bit. We go shopping with Izzie, who makes an effort to move away from her favourite tiny, shiny things and tries her luck with some ‘brown furniture’, usually much more Phil’s thing. Mr Serrell has a go at something new, encroaching into Izzie territory with some jewellery. They navigate past some tightly packed shops, security dogs and the occasional zombie. Away from the shops, Izzie pops into Cambridge to discover how a chapel for a group of medieval outcasts was the starting point for one of the largest fairs in the country. Philip heads underground to discover an amazing chamber, just below a busy main road, the origins and purpose of which are a complete mystery. Then it’s time to send their prized purchases off to auction in Hertfordshire to see if they can turn a profit.

Épisode 23 - Episode 23

9 juin 2021

It’s a very wild and waterlogged road trip as our pair of antiques experts, Izzie Balmer and Phil Serrell, brave the deluge around Oxford and the Cotswolds. Aside from bad-hair-day problems, they have to hope that their 60s soft-top is up to the challenge. After her foray into 'Serrell country' last time out, Izzie is back in the cabinets, on the hunt for her favourite jewellery. Displaying some rather bizarre browsing behaviour, Phil decides to try his luck with an item that was lost at sea for over 200 years. As well as their trusty Triumph, our pair tries out some alternative modes of transport. Philip catches a train to find out the history of one of Britain’s earliest railway companies and how four schoolboys saved its steam engines from the scrapheap. And it’s puppy power for Izzie as she discovers how man’s best friend has helped people to get about and survive in the Arctic for millennia. But has she got what it takes to be a champion musher? Then it’s time for their purchases to go under the hammer in Harrogate, to see who will win the day. 10 juin 2021

Our travelling twosome, Philip Serrell and Izzie Balmer, hit the shops of Staffordshire and Shropshire in their penultimate outing. After going a bundle on brooches on the last leg, Izzie makes a vow to steer clear this time out. It doesn’t mean Phil can’t buy one though. It’s gloves off and weapons at the ready as Izzie and Phil share not one but two shopping opportunities. Izzie’s new obsession turns out to be serpentine in nature as she gets her hands on a couple of snake-related items. For Phil, there’s a rather special bit of jewellery from a big-name designer that he has his sights on. There is also a spot of flag waving, some rummaging through other people’s drawers and a passable impression of a milkmaid. Away from the shops, Izzie discovers the fascinating history of invention behind a certain field sport and has a go herself. Philip, meanwhile, comes face to face with one of Britain’s best loved wild animals, and finds out what is being done to save them from extinction. Then their 1960s classic car whisks them off to a castle to watch their items go under the hammer. Can Izzie consolidate her lead, or will Phil come out ahead?

The final battleground for our intrepid auctioneers, Philip Serrell and Izzie Balmer, will be the antiques emporia of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Whilst our pair celebrate their new found friendship, it doesn’t mean that they’ve lost their competitive streak - they’re both in it to win it. And it looks like the third member of the team, their classic car, might be restored to its former glory. Phil, who has to play hunt-the-shopkeeper, has his eye on a few quality antique staples, as well as one hefty horticultural item. Meanwhile, Izzie finds herself in what could well be her perfect shop, containing lots and lots of her favourite sparkly pieces. But she also takes a shine to a particular maritime item that’s decidedly Serrell-esque. And is that the sound of wedding bells in the air? On her travels, Izzie discovers the entire history of mill power, from wind to steam and back again. She also finds out that grinding flour by hand is not as easy as it seems. Philip visits an impressive war memorial, Britain’s newest, and learns the history of the fighting force that flew crucial and extremely dangerous missions from the airfields of Lincolnshire. A magnificent Elizabethan country house provides the backdrop for their final face-off, but will a wise old head prevail over youthful exuberance?

Experts Izzie Balmer and Tim Medhurst are cruising around Wales in a classic car, searching for antiques to sell at auction. It's a competition, mind you, so profits are the name of the game. Izzie finds a selection of maps from the days before cars ruled the roads, and Tim gets all excited when he discovers a William Gladstone commemorative medal. With the shopping done, there's time for our experts to learn more about local history as Izzie finds out about a shameful event that took place in Cardiff, while Tim takes a trip to Carmarthen to learn about the poet and scholar who helped save the Welsh language from extinction. All roads point to auction for our duo. Who will reign victorious at the penultimate sale?

Épisode 5 - Episode 5

10 septembre 2021

The time has come for Izzie Balmer and Tim Medhurst to conclude their epic road trip around Wales in a classic car. With only one auction to go, time is running out for our dynamic duo to scour the country's antiques shops for items that will sell for a profit when they go under the gavel. While Tim goes on a veritable spending spree that includes an arts and crafts letter box, Izzie hopes that two Chinese vases bearing the symbol for good fortune will prove to be an auspicious purchase. As always, our experts find the time to step away from the antiques shops to delve into some local culture. Izzie tries some laver bread, a Welsh culinary delight made from seaweed foraged from one of the country’s most stunning beaches, and Tim goes all Poldark as he gets to grips with a scythe to discover traditional farming methods still being used today. Then it's down to brass tacks: the final auction. Who will be crowned the winner of this road trip? There’s a big surprise in store for one expert!

Épisode 6 - Episode 6

13 septembre 2021

Veritable veteran James Braxton takes on relative newbie Irita Marriott as they cruise through Kent in a classic car in search of profitable antiques. James spots a 19th century child’s rattle which sparks international interest, while Irita pins her hopes on a damaged Daum Nancy glass lamp. James finds the time to visit an underground network of caves in Chislehurst, which once sheltered 15,000 people during the Blitz and Irita dusts off her dancing shoes for a belly dancing lesson in Maidstone. Then it's off to the first auction, an epic showdown on the Romney Marsh in their trusty steed, a 1960s Volvo. Who’ll come out on top?

Épisode 7 - Episode 7

14 septembre 2021

It’s the second leg of Irita Marriott and James Braxton’s jaunt along England’s south coast. On their way to an auction showdown in Kent, James visits an experimental wartime listening post in Greatstone and Irita learns about a pioneering lighthouse at Beachy Head. James has a wedge of cash to spend and is looking for high-value items as he tries to maintain his lead but Irita is snapping at his heels with some canny purchases. Can she close the gap at auction?

Épisode 8 - Episode 8

15 septembre 2021

James Braxton and Irita Marriott are on the third leg of their grand tour of England’s south coast. They’re searching for antiques in East Sussex and Hampshire in their classic car from the 60s. A novelty beer bottle and a fish kettle whet James’s appetite for a profit while Irita hopes a 19th-century puzzle box will solve her woes at auction. On the way James gets up close and personal with some octogenarian sea turtles in Brighton. Irita makes a stop of her own at the historic Portsmouth Docks to learn about a Victorian philanthropist who dedicated her life to helping the sailors of the Royal Navy. Together they head to Dorset for an auction face-off, with Irita gambling all her funds in an effort to catch up to James’ commanding lead.

Épisode 9 - Episode 9

16 septembre 2021

Embarking on the fourth leg of their road trip, James Braxton and Irita Marriott rummage through antiques shops across Wiltshire and Dorset. James goes on a journey back to the land before time where he meets a famous fossil hunter. Irita takes a break from shopping to visit the site of the once-great Shaftesbury Abbey. Both our experts buy their favourites on this outing, with James championing brass and Irita backing porcelain but who will come up trumps at the penultimate auction?

Épisode 10 - Episode 10

Meanwhile, Irita goes behind the scenes of a beloved local cinema as it’s brought back to life. James is excited by his discovery of a snuff box with a connection to the abolitionist movement but will it be enough to secure a victory? It all goes down to the wire at the final auction.

Épisode 11 - Episode 11

20 septembre 2021

Seasoned antiquer and auctioneer Charles Hanson accompanies Ochuko Ojiri on his Road Trip debut. A dealer, gallery owner and vintage enthusiast from London, Ochuko loves 20th century art, but what will he be able to acquire with a modest starting sum of £200? This treasure-hunting tour kicks off in Yorkshire, with our experts behind the wheel of a 1970s open-topped Triumph Spitfire. Their joint aim is to buy antiques that will make a profit when sold at auction - no mean feat! Charles finds an item that promises to bring joy to the home, while Ochuko plumps for a sleepy Japanese poodle. There is still time, however, for our experts to visit Hull, where they walk in the footsteps of a rugby league trailblazer and learn how a trawler disaster inspired a group of activists who would go on to become known as the Headscarf Heroes.

Épisode 12 - Episode 12

21 septembre 2021

Dealer Ochuko Ojiri and auctioneer Charles Hanson root around antiques shops, searching for items to sell at auction. In their bold, blue 1970s classic car, our duo have reached the Pennines. Charles makes a very small purchase - a seashell for just a few pence - but notices it harbours a nautical secret. Will it reward him at auction? Meanwhile, Ochuko goes back in time to his youth and picks up some toys he hopes will inspire bidders wanting to relive their childhoods. While there's some serious shopping to do, there's also time to dive into some local history along the way. There's an encounter with a unique piece of British railway history and a chance to find out all about one of the country's oldest and rarest sheep breeds. Prepare yourselves - there are little lambs! Our experts each began their journey with £200, and it’s already shaping up to be quite some contest. But how much will they gain (or possibly lose) over the course of several hundred miles? Today we reach sale room number two.

Épisode 13 - Episode 13

22 septembre 2021

We’re approaching the halfway point of our jaunt with Road Trip regular Charles Hanson and first-time tripper Ochuko Ojiri. And what a journey it has been so far! Both are heading for the great city of Liverpool in their rather eye-catching classic car. There are plenty of antiques to catch their eyes when they hit the shops, and plenty of local history to learn about too. Our experts grab the chance to find out about a unique and very old city centre institution, and they head across the Mersey to experience Liverpool’s canal connection to Britain’s industrial past. Charles is drawn to the Far East and tempted by several Chinese carvings, pots and pieces of porcelain. Ochuko's focus is closer to home when a very large enamel sign adverting cakes whets his appetite for a profit. Then it's time for auction number three. It's clear that our experts are forging a lasting friendship, but they're both in it to win it, make no mistake!

Épisode 14 - Episode 14

23 septembre 2021

It’s the fourth leg of the trip for antiques experts (and strictly amateur in-car disco dancers) Ochuko Ojiri and Charles Hanson. Their classic car is pointed south, towards the Midlands. Charles may well be the favourite, with a string of Road Trip victories under his belt, but newbie Ochuko is proving to be a worthy challenger. In Stafford, a clown with a red ruffled collar catches Ochuko’s eye. Charles’s weak spot for anything with rococo detail means he spends most of his budget on a 220-year-old unusual find. While buying antiques to sell at auction is the aim of the game, our experts make time to further their knowledge. One learns about a forgotten Second World War bomber rediscovered in Russia, while the other encounters several monkeys in a garden in Stoke-on-Trent. As Charles and Ochuko cruise around the gorgeous summer countryside, there's only one thing on their minds: the penultimate auction.

Épisode 15 - Episode 15

24 septembre 2021

It’s the final, thrilling episode of our week-long road trip with Charles Hanson and Ochuko Ojiri. While cruising around the Midlands, our experts see the site of an historic Black Country industrial dispute and try to distinguish ‘bare’ Coventrian fact from fiction. Charles gets excited when he spies some French opera glasses at a great price, and an oil painting catches Ochuko’s eye – but will it attract big bids? At auction, will it be Road Trip regular Charles or daring debutant Ochuko who reigns victorious? Competition aside, it's safe to say that this budding bromance is now in full bloom!

Épisode 16 - Episode 16

27 septembre 2021

An all-new adventure sees antiques experts Catherine Southon and Serhat Ahmet heading out on an east-of-England odyssey, on the hunt for the old, the unusual and the precious. They kick off in Kent with £200 and a rather special motor, a Morris Minor Million, built to commemorate the millionth model to roll off the production line. Catherine comes across a rather useful spare appendage when shopping. She also throws the cash around on a few of her items, but may regret it when her pockets feel a little light. Serhat does a lot of searching to sort the reproductions from the genuine articles, but he comes across one item he thinks could sell big. There’s also the occasional scare as our shoppers delve into the darkest recesses to look for bargains. On their travels, Catherine detours to the capital to discover how London’s smelliest year led to an amazing piece of infrastructure and made big improvements in the population’s health. Serhat heads out into the Thames Estuary to get up close to a relic of World War II that may still contain a nasty surprise.

28 septembre 2021

It’s the second outing for antiques experts Serhat Ahmet and Catherine Southon, heading in an easterly direction in their lovely lilac Morris Minor Million. This time they are scouring the countryside of the East Midlands for old objects of desire, although city slicker Serhat is a bit overwhelmed by the rural setting and finds it a challenge to identify the local fauna. On the back foot after the last auction, Catherine puts in a call to complain. She gets swept up in the romance of an item containing a wartime love story and buys some items that no self-respecting lord lady of the manor should be without. Serhat, after being snubbed by one antiques shop inhabitant, amasses a diverse collection of items, but still manages to slip in some of his beloved porcelain. On their travels, Catherine visits a local church that broadcast to the nation during the dark days of the Second World War, and Serhat goes in search of thrills as he meets the head of a daredevil dynasty that can do things on two wheels that defy gravity. Then it’s all the fun of the fair as our pair head to Clacton Pier for a spot of auction watching and a go on the amusements. Will it be a rollercoaster or just swings and roundabouts?

Épisode 18 - Episode 18

29 septembre 2021

It’s a scoot up the East Anglian coast for antiques experts Serhat Ahmet and Catherine Southon, taking in Suffolk and Norfolk in their lilac Morris Minor Million. Their quest for antique goodies hits a stumbling block when they run into a spot of car trouble, possibly caused by Serhat’s overenthusiastic headbanging. With both experts slightly on their uppers after the last auction, our purchasing pair play to their strengths. Serhat heads straight for the ceramics, picking up a few rare items, some of which have definitely seen better days. Catherine makes a beeline for her favourite tiny treasures but gets to grips with a couple of hefty items on the way. Taking a break from the shopping, Serhat meets the great-nephew of a remarkable woman who broke the social norms of her day to go and fight on the front line. Catherine, meanwhile, gets to sample a local delicacy that sounds rather unappealing but has sustained the local population for centuries. Then it’s off to a picturesque spot by a windmill to watch their items go under the hammer at auction. But will they make any bread?

Épisode 19 - Episode 19

30 septembre 2021

It’s the penultimate run-out for our peripatetic antiques purchasers, Catherine Southon and Serhat Ahmet, who find themselves hitting the shops from Norfolk to Northamptonshire. Their fabulous lilac Morris has had a polish and is running smoothly, which is more than can be said for their competition after the last auction. They both need to get some cracking deals if they are to get back on track. Serhat is on the hunt once again for ceramics, while Catherine has her eye on a more eclectic mix of items. On the way, Serhat makes some new four-legged friends, and Catherine tries to find out what you can buy for under a pound. Out and about, Serhat finds out about a refugee who fled his war-torn country and became a local legend in his adopted hometown thanks to his crazy stunts and feats of strength. Catherine gets a taste of a high-speed motorsport and goes for a ride from which she might never recover. A spot of stately splendour is their backdrop for the auction, where they find out if their items are sufficiently upper crust.

Épisode 20 - Episode 20

1 octobre 2021

It’s the end of our east-of-England expedition with antiques experts Catherine Southon and Serhat Ahmet, who are heading out on the bumpy backroads of Lincolnshire. With the results of the previous auction having swelled both their wallets, our two shoppers are in a chipper mood as they head off in their lilac Morris Minor Million towards Derbyshire and their last chance to buy. Keen to make good use of his new-found wealth, Serhat heads straight for the pricier items with desirable brand names attached, while Catherine has an eye out for the unusual, the quirky and, in one case, the downright creepy. To mark their last trip together and their new-found friendship, they both try their hand at each other’s areas of expertise. It’s not just all about the shopping, though. On their travels, Catherine discovers the history of the most iconic of classical instruments at a school that teaches students how to make them. Meanwhile, Serhat scales the heights (and depths) to hear the story of how a group of enterprising 18th-century miners helped turn a peak in Derbyshire into one of the country’s earliest tourist attractions. Then it’s off to the home of the British Grand Prix to watch their final auction. Is Catherine on the home straight or can Serhat overtake right at the end to take the chequered flag?
