Il s'agit d'une série animée originale de Kodaka Kazutaka, le créateur du jeu Danganronpa. Il y a longtemps, une guerre opposant la région du Kantō à celle du Kansai a divisé le monde. Suite à cette guerre, le Kansai est devenu un état indépendant. Cependant, le gouvernement et les forces de polices ont perdu puissance, causant ainsi une soudaine hausse de la criminalité. Ces nouveaux criminels se font appeler Akudama.
