Akira est une adolescente de 18 ans qui travaille dans un Family Restaurant après les cours. Elle est secrètement amoureuse du gérant du restaurant, Masami Kondo, un homme de 45 ans, divorcé, ayant un enfant. Il n’est ni beau ni charismatique, juste un homme ordinaire, un peu fatigué, désillusionné, conscient de sa situation et de son âge qui avance. Akira était autrefois l’espoir du club d’athlétisme. Mais une blessure à la cheville lui a brisé ses rêves de gloire. C’est au moment où elle était encore dans le deuil de sa passion sportive qu’elle a rencontré Masami. Il a fait preuve de gentillesse à son égard. Il n’a évidemment pas mesuré à quel point son geste a été salvateur pour Akira. Ni à quel point cela a fait naître en elle le sentiment qu’elle porte aujourd’hui.
