WWII, Europe completely torn apart. Portugal, pacific country by the sea, keeps a dubious neutral position. As a strategic point, this country attracts both of the belligerent sides, making Lisbon become the perfect stage for spies. It is under this ambiance of intrigue and suspicion that our eight-part miniseries takes place. When in 1942 is emitted an announcement by the Allies stating that all gold with the Nazi emblem would be considered theft, Portugal that receives this gold as payment for its exportation, has to come up with new ways to let this gold into the country.

Épisode 1 - Episódio 1

On June 26, 1941, the German army invades Russia. Maria João photographs Lisbon full of refugees arriving in Portugal. When his father-in-law Nicolau has an accident, he asks Maria João to help him manage the company. Major Beevor, an English spy, meets with the National Football Coach, Cândido de Oliveira, to organize the activity of the Resistance in Portugal. At the same time that Rose is lured by the British, Maria João goes to Porto because of a robbery at the Mascarenhas company branch. It is in the Invicta city that her best friend, Rose, introduces her to Siegfried Brenner.

December 1941. Life in Lisbon changed with the war. A mysterious accident in a wolfram mine brings engineer Siegfried Brenner to the capital. Larenz, a spy in the service of the Third Reich, keeps an eye on the engineer. At the same time, he controls all the steps of Rose Lawson, Maria João's best friend. In the dungeons of the PVDE, suspected of subversive activities, the casapiano Roberto Moisés - father and devoted husband - is interrogated and tortured by agent Paulo.
