Possédé par un esprit maléfique et endetté jusqu'au cou, Kogarashi cherche à louer une chambre pas trop chère pour passer l'année. Ses recherches l'amènent à la mystérieuse pension Yuragi qui entre étrangement parfaitement dans son budget. La raison ? La pension est hantée par l'esprit d'une jeune fille nommée Yûna et occupée par d'autres résidentes plus étranges les unes que les autres. Malgré les réticences de celles-ci Kogarashi finit tout de même par s'y installer et se retrouve à partager sa chambre avec Yûna.
